Today had been tiresome, each second feeling more like an hour. Within the four walls of her diamond white room she sat and waited. For what, she didn't know. All she ever did was wait. Alone in this space with nothing but her thoughts; nothing to focus her attention on except her hopes and her dreams, her successes and her failures. She watched the rain trickle slowly down the window, creating thick trails on the glass. Her eyes begin to swell with tears, running down her face as if in unison with the rain on the window outside. She couldn't pretend to be happy anymore. She would no longer conform.

To inaugurate her new label Microdosing, French producer Julienne Dessagne aka Fantastic Twins, has enlisted some of her close friends to be part of the first volume, which takes the same name as the label. Julienne hails the imprint as 'a collective experiment aimed at helping you fighting back your modern obsession with happiness.' The release features tracks from a talented bunch of producers, including Manfredas, Smagghe & Cross, Autarkic, Naum Gabo and, of course, Julienne herself. Our premiere from Naum Gabo, the project of Optimo's Jonnie Wilkes and mastering engineer James Savage, is where "sound, geometry and colour spell F R E E D O M.

Here is ‘Vortex’....so when Michael Mayer listened to the demo, he tripped and banged his head on a cupboard. When he woke up he said...

“There's something about Rex The Dog that keeps my mind wandering back to the times when it all began for me. It was the early 80s, when young Michael first got exposed to the magic world of dance music. As much as these early sonic impressions (Stock, Aitken & Waterman, Italo Disco, Trevor Horn etc) still resonate in both Rex The Dog's and my current musical output, there's another aspect to those early days that sometimes tends to be forgotten.

Do you remember the first time you saw coloured lights blinking, a blasting smoke machine and lasers cutting through the room? I was so fascinated by that first experience that I started spending all my spare time and pocket money on music and lights. My first self-made piece of disco equipment was a shoe box containing three speakers (ripped from old TVs and radios) and three LEDs that actually flashed to the beat of the sound. An achievement that made me proud as hell. Looking at Rex The Dog's self- made modular gear always opens a vortex of childhood memories.

James Connolly, also known as L-Vis 1990, revives his house-focused Dance System alias with a pair of slamming house cuts on Eats Everything’s Edible label. Leading off the release is 'Please', a piano-laden track built for injecting energy into any dancefloor with its pacey rhythms laying the foundation for warm chords and chopped vocals. Peak time business from Dance System, a grand return to house music for Connolly.

Unquantize Presents “Make It Hot” produced by one of America’s most legendary DJ’s. Tedd Patterson, who has played a part in dance music since the mid 80’s, played as a Dj for the Magic Sessions in Miami and at some of the most prominent clubs around the world including London's Ministry of Sound, Pacha in Ibiza, and Ageha in Tokyo. It’s no surprise that “Make It Hot” has all the makings of a feel-good disco record. Hooky vocals, happy hand claps, and a slammin’ bassline make this track a peak time dancefloor stomper. Tedd’s Original Mix intertwines disco breakdowns with an arrangement that builds over an 8-minute groove while his Dub continuously rocks from beginning to end. Both mixes creating a dynamic and exciting release destined for the dancefloor.

Shortly before the end of the year Buttress Records releases its fifth installment of their highly appreciated 'Cross Vault'-series, including new music from Cipy, Jepe, Speaking Minds & Amarcord and Enzo Elia. The latter contributes 'Dramma Print', a driving take with a lush bass line that pushes its audience through the club and over the floor like Enzo does with the synths on this one, too. 'Dramma Print' basically only knows one direction, namely going forward. Therefore it combines the aforedescribed elements in order to create an alternating abrasion maintaing tension.
