Masterpiece of Heart

FIRST EARTH RISE

It happened Christmas Eve Apollo 8 was televised
William Anders photographed the iconic “Earth-rise”
The Earth and Moon mission patch embraced Infinity
On the lunar horizon Earth appeared so heavenly
Genesis one to ten was read by the crew of three
God’s word came down for all of us to watch on our TV’s

Three Kings on camels and the brightest star of all
Were pictured on a greeting card taped upon a wall
The moon was waxing crescent that cold eventful night
Children all were starry eyed the future looked so bright
In the distance Silent Night could be heard at the Nativity
I was not the only one with high hopes for humanity 
     
Of all the possibilities we are destined to embrace
From the moon our earth appears to be a peaceful place
That “First Earth Rise” must have been an incredible surprise
For God to see His Wonder through His children’s eyes
You don’t have to leave this world to have an Epiphany
When I see God in you and you see God in me

 Charlie Rogers had a tap dancing dog
Danced on the sink 'cause he thinks he is a frog
The sink broke and he never called a plumber
So the house filled with water by the end of summer

 Charlie Rogers frog thought he was a bull
Drank and drank 'cause he wanted to be full
He burst of thirst when he drank the pond dry
And the pond is where the house gets its water supply

 The Slow Bullrushes the Bull Bullfrog and the Bullfrog dog
 Charlie Rogers Bulldozer tried to be a tractor
Just couldn't do it 'cause it wasn't a good actor
It was honest didn't want to cover and bull
But did and slept well 'cause Charlie had nothing else to pull
They covered up the Bull buried by the by the boots that got black 
By the pond that went dry and the house that got waterlogged
Cause of the Honest Bulldozer the Bullfighters bulls eye
 The Slow  Bullrushes the Bull Bullfrog and the Bullfrog dog
 Charlie Rogers now didn't have a match
But he had a house that fire couldn't catch
So he cancelled his fire insurance bought a new sink
And dug a new well so the water wouldn't sink
And all went well at least I think when they covered up the 
Bull buried by the by the boots that got black; 
The pond went dry and the house got waterlogged
Cause of Matchless Catch the Honest Bulldozer

YELLOW CATERPILLARS

I was young 
When the town was small
Where the yellow caterpillars Used to crawl

Once there was a mime artist lost in a maze of heart
He never knew which way to go to the finish or the start.
Deep within a see-thru maze his hands defined the space
And there's so much of it between love and death’s embrace.

When a star hits the moon its mark can’t be erased
If not for all those falling stars the moon would have no face...

And what about that shooting star caught between now and never—
On one hand there was blinding light the other cast shadows forever.
His tears were either black or white depending on which way he faced
But then don’t tears of joy and sorrow all share the same salty taste.

Is a mime not physical eloquence with a face of painted white
His stage a crater on the moon where the dark side meets the light.
His head in a tower of ivory ebony dungeons hold him down
We find him stuck forever between phases of smiles and frowns.
