Minimal Processing: Subtle compression applied in Ableton Live on the master channel.
 Core Elements:
   * Voice: Solely driven by Mutable Instruments Elements.
   * Pitch:
     * Voice 1: Pitch information derived from QuBit Bloom (1 Voice to V/Oct, bypassing Elements).
     * Voice 2: Pitch information from QuBit Bloom (2 Voice to Freq-Input of Batumi mk2 at audible rates).
   * Batumi:
     * Exciter and Resonator inputs fed with a pitched ramp (processed through a Doepfer 12dB SEM Type VCF set to High Pass with full resonance) and square waves.
 * Modulation:
   * Mutable Instruments Elements modulated by Mimetic Digitalis (Noise Engineering).
   * Clocking provided by Steppy (Intellijel).

Woidfest Eurorack Modular Synthesizer Live-Performance 2024

A sonic journey that begins with a spacious, contemplative soundscape and gradually unfolds into a richly textured soundscape. The track features a combination of evolving polyphonic chords, processed vocal samples, and rhythmic pulses, all generated by a Eurorack modular synthesizer. The 7-minute intro invites listeners to immerse themselves in the evolving soundscape, while the subsequent sections showcase the dynamic interplay between the polyphonic chords, which are rhythmically shaped by the Make Noise DXG, and the haunting, processed vocal samples created using the Make Noise Morphagene. The entire composition is the result of spontaneous improvisation and was captured in a single take.

DingDong Session2 (Eurorack Live-Performance)

This track was recorded live in one take with no further editing beyond volume adjustments and light compression in Ableton Live. The main voice is the Make Noise XPO through the Make Noise DXG Low-pass Gate.

The minimalist soundscape is built upon a foundation of Eurorack modules, including the Make Noise Morphagene, Maths, and XPO, alongside contributions from the Qu-Bit Bloom, Data Bender, Mutable Instruments Plaits and Beads, and more. The track also features the Roland TR-8S and the Arturia Microfreak.

The vocals, sampled from a live session with a friend last week (originally recorded for music at 135 BPM), are processed through the Chroma Console effect pedal and emerge as fragmented whispers within the dark and atmospheric soundscape.

This is a recording of a second live Eurorack synthesizer set from a private gathering. As before, guests listened on headphones and were free to move around. This set features some sections with a slightly increased tempo. The session begins with a sample from Peter Sellars' speech, "The Importance of Music."

The music was generated live, using pre-programmed bassline patterns (Minibrute 2s) and harmonic sequences (Arturia Microfreak).

Am Hof 2 Outta Space

A mellow, modular synth-driven track with a slowly evolving piano, propelled by generative melodies at 92.7 BPM. The rest of the track is crafted with analog equipment, featuring the Make Noise XPO as the main oscillator and Mutable Instruments Plaits. Everything was recorded and mixed live, with minimal post-processing in Ableton.

Str Requiem (A15)

"Free Illusion" was made in one continuous session and hasn't been edited. It's an attempt to simply capture a moment in sound. Afterward, only some compressor and EQ were added in Ableton to shape the sound slightly.

For this track, I used the Teenage Engineering OP-1 Field to gather various sonic textures. These sounds were then processed through a Mutable Instruments Beads granular effect, which added small, crystal-like decorations to the sound.

The main melody comes from my Eurorack system, with two main voices: Mutable Instruments Plaits for the melody and Make Noise XPO for the bass, connected to a low-pass gate.

My goal with "Free Illusion" wasn't to create a perfect song, but just to record a specific moment. Because of how it was made, much of the song would be difficult to recreate exactly. It's simply about sharing a passion for sound.

Free Illusion

"Heart's Journey" is a live recording, a sonic interpretation of the heart's constant yet ever-changing rhythm as it moves through the universe. This piece was captured in a single take, embracing the spontaneity of a live performance. After the recording, only some compressor and EQ were added in Ableton to fine-tune the sound.

The track heavily features my Eurorack system, with the core sounds built around Mutable Instruments Plaits for melodies and Make Noise XPO providing the bass, often shaped by a low-pass gate. You'll also hear textures from the Teenage Engineering OP-1 Field, which I use to gather unique atmospheric sounds. The Mutable Instruments Beads granular effect adds intricate, shimmering details throughout the piece.

Other modules from the Eurorack system that contribute to the sound are Make Noise Morphagene, Make Noise Maths, Make Noise DXG, and Make Noise QPAS. For effects, I utilized FX AID XL, and the signal routing was managed with the Erica Synths Matrix Mixer and AI018 Eurorack Stereo Matrix Mixer. Further sequence explorations come from Noise Engineering Mimetic Digitales, Qu-Bit Bloom, and sound FX from Qu-Bit Data Bender. Disting EX works as a matrix mixer and Disting mk4 as a compressor. Master-FX are performed live with Oxi Meta. 

The entire performance was mixed and recorded through the Tascam Model 12 and exported as one stereo master sum. Additional equipment like the Roland TR-8S, Endorphines Golden Master, Hologram Chroma Console, and Arturia Microfreak were also available in the setup, contributing to the overall sonic palette of the live session.

This track is an unedited snapshot of a moment, reflecting the organic and evolving nature of live electronic music.

Heart's Journey

A short live sketch exploring the possibilities of mixing and inverting gates and triggers. The piece features a bassline and arpeggio from a blend of Make Noise XPO and Mutable Instruments Plaits. Sequencing for both was done with QuBit Bloom and Noise Engineering Numeric Digitalis. The gate and trigger sequencing comes from an Intellijel Steppy, with modulation from a Batumi, and final logic handled by the Klavis Two Bits module.
