My Re-Score to "A Hidden Life" (2019 film)
The story centers on Franz Jägerstätter, an Austrian farmer from the small village of St. Radegund, who refuses to swear an oath of allegiance to Adolf Hitler and the Third Reich, despite immense pressure from his community, local authorities, and the church. Aware that his decision will likely lead to his arrest and execution, Franz remains steadfast in his faith and convictions. He is supported by his wife, Fani, who also suffers from the consequences of his decision. After months of imprisonment in Berlin, Franz is eventually tried, found guilty, and executed on August 9, 1943. His wife and daughters survive him.

“Shopping Trip,” created by Barry Wilkinson during the first week of the COVID-19 lockdown in the UK, encapsulates the profound worry and unease of that period. The monochrome animation takes the viewer on a solitary journey, capturing the surreal experience of a simple shopping trip transformed by the pandemic’s shadow.

Silent Embrace

In 2001, my father collapsed after a walk and was taken to hospital. Before I could visit him, he died unexpectedly. Since then, not a day has gone by that I don't miss him. So often I wish he was still with me and I could talk to him. I wish he was still here.
