Remix works 2012 - 2015

Much respected US transplant DJ/producer Andy Slate comes up trumps here with his latest EP, Clouds Don’t Cry. The third release on Slate’s own eightmileshigh imprint, it features the prolific producer in vintage form, as he paves the way for an eclectic 6-track EP that speaks volumes of his lengthy production career.

First up is the title track, produced in tandem with Kenny Gino of MindInfluence (Solid Gold Playaz, Cozmic Jazzz Futurist). Blissful melodies and clever strings are the order of the day, as the vaguely progressive backdrop and Gino’s sultry, sun-glistened vocals help carry the track to higher planes. Alexander Koning and Mike Ravelli maintain a similar stance, with their subtle interpretation really getting going once the eventual barrage of simmering snares and weighty percussion enter the equation.

Crunchy textures and popping beats play a pertinent role in Solid Gold Playaz vehement tech-house remix; one that panders to the dance floor with considerable distinction. Hungarian producer Diwex’s remix is all about the forceful kick and the deep overtones, before fledgling British producer and Kinetic Groove owner laces the track with a fair dollop of ominous, atmospheric leanings. Stripped-back but dexterous, it’s a particularly refined offering on an EP that’s brimming with quality.

Finally, Fred Prest goes diverse, turning ”Clouds Don’t Cry” into a heads-down anthem that takes no prisoners and echoes the sound of old-school Detroit in the process. All in all, this is an undoubtedly tasty amalgamation of house music that’s arrived just in time for the summer season.

The 'Original Mix' is the usual high class production you would expect from BiG AL, with it's driving bass line, guitar breakdowns and vocal hook it will get people moving on the dance floor. 

The Stefan Cordery Remix takes the Original down a more progressive route, with the introduction of evolving pads and a more up front beat.  Whilst the Rod Pearson Remix takes a more stripped back approach to things retaining some of the original bass line and synth elements but applying his own deep sound.

The Spanish producer made his debut on our Future Avenue sublabel in 2022 and has since continued to refine his deep, progressive sound. With previous releases on onedotsixtwo, Krafted Underground, Polyptych, Mistique Music, Mir Music, Dear Deer, Natura Viva, and Uncles Music, Neuralis has established himself as a rising name in the scene.

Born in Granada, Neuralis developed a passion for electronic music from an early age, collecting CDs and vinyl while immersing himself in the local techno and house scene. His journey took a defining turn after experiencing Creamfields Almería, where he was inspired by artists like Hernán Cattáneo, John Digweed, and James Holden. Soon after, he began his own DJ career, blending deep, melodic, and progressive elements into his sets and productions.

Established six years ago, the beloved various artists showcase continues to search the globe for the freshest new talent that the electronic underground has to offer, featuring a cohesive blend of progressive and melodic techno styles. SIX: Stage-24 continues that ethos featuring exclusive new music from: Foreign Movies, Gándara (AR), Mindlancholic, Luciano Pelliza & Ger Nogueira, JP Mantero and BNogart. Making his label debut with selection one is British artist Julian Peake aka Foreign Movies. Beloved for his releases via Global Underground and Nick Warrens The Soundgarden, the London residents latest Your Life sets the tone for the release with chunky grooves and whimsical qualities that should appeal to a broad range of house DJs. Making his label debut is Gándara (AR) who provides selection two A Carousel. The collections halfway point welcomes Luciano Pelliza & Ger Nogueira following projects for Droid9 and Or Two Strangers. The Argentinean duo land on SLC-6 presenting their first collaborative project Smoke Sellers, a groovy progressive track that impresses with its driving basslines, squelchy effects and vibrant melodic topline. Staying in Argentina, JP Mantero makes his SLC-6 debut with the hypnotic sounds of Epiphany. The Rosario resident delivers one of his most engaging creations to date, with dreamy vocal elements setting a canopy for charged beats, radiant textures and mystical melodic fragments to work their magic. The EP concludes with BNogart making his label debut with Synthient City, a track which marks his first ever release. The Irish artist gets his production career off to a strong start with nostalgic arps, buzzing chord stabs and a captivating spoken word vocal which is sure to leave a memorable impression on the dancefloor.

GW is my Dad’s initials (Graham Wake) 
I initially decided to call it GW as the arrangement of the track started coming together. It was shaping up to have light and shade elements, which my Dad kind of had too.

I then found the female vocal singing 
‘I know who you think I am’ which felt right because not everyone knew the different personalities of my dad.

Not long after adding the female vocal I decided I wanted to add my dad’s voice to the track so I began the search through old videos. I was about to give up and then I found one from Christmas years ago when we were all taking the micky out of him while he took ages to do a lottery scratch card. 
He eventually stopped, looked up and proudly said to us all ‘I’m happy in my little world’ This was perfect! 

So I added my Dad’s voice to the track, with a lot of effects and processing to fit the tracks vibe and it works perfectly, especially with the female vocal on the main breakdown.

So I renamed it ‘GW (My Little World)’
By sheer coincidence I finished the track while I was back in the UK at my parents house for Easter. 
It’s been an emotional ride getting this track finished and it felt fitting that it should reach it’s completion in our family home 🤍

My dad was a jazz man so I don’t know if he would’ve liked the track but I think he would’ve appreciated it. I just wish he was around to hear it.

I want to say a huge Huge thankyou to EDM Tips, Will Darling and Nick De Grace for their incredible music production tuition and knowledge.
This is the first time in music production I’ve finished a track and felt really proud of it, and have the confidence moving forward creating music. 
So there will be plenty more new music to come so watch this space!

Ben Hoo announces new single 'Run Of Sevens', released via Get Physical sub-label Kindisch on 3rd July.

A blooming soundscape filled with sinister tones and thick late-night vibes, the percussion is in true Ben Hoo style, utilising various organic sounds to create an up-beat hustle. On remix duties are David Keno, Marc Ashken, Vaal and Stefan Cordery.

Kindisch's own David Keno takes the energy to another level by throwing crunchy beats under hypnotic chord-play. Keno creates a whole new world with his mix, where the sweat drips from your brow as you shake it out in the middle of dark, crowded dance floor deep into the night.

Marc Ashken’s remix rides a similar vibe to Ben’s original, laying heavier kicks, a more straightforward percussive line and an acid bassline. With this, he creates a more driving sensation, pushing you further – a small after-hours touch can be heard here.

Vaal’s remix adds a sense of playfulness, with horns, piano and a minimalistic approach to the percussion. A very sultry, jazzy vibe is induced with the chord-and-piano mix – wanting to be played in the mid-day sun of a hot open-air festival.

And now we move on Stefan Cordery, who’s mix belongs in the late night category, when the crowd expects that one extra ‘push’ to bring them over the top – and he delivers beautifully with constant percussion and swaying pads laid out over a subtle bass line.
