Glacier

Ziemniak is an open collective formed during an artistic residency in September 2022 in Burlats, France.
We brought inspiration from performance and role playing. In this sense improvisation is a great part of the work. In this environment we created, visual scores are the most efficient form of notation, as they serve not only as a transcription of the music we create, but as a common ground in which we move and reference constantly during the performance. Concurrently we communicate through body and sound-making as the crucial point of the pieces.

V.E.R.SU.S. is an improvisation by Mitsa Chaida Michelakou(guitar) and Stefania D'Eri (trombone) recorded live in a cave shaped room in the Moulin Des Sitelles, Burlats (Tarn – Occitanie, France) with a telephone.

V.E.R.S.U.S. is based on an actual event : during a queer protest in Athens in 2018, riots threw glitter at riot police officers who, in order to get it off, started to move nervously and break down their integrity when confronted with a gesture that undermined their representation as extremely masculinised and power-holding forces.
The improvisation is based on a visual score that starts with the explosion of the smoke bombs at the beginning, the running and chasing game of the two factions, riots and cops, and the throwing of glitter, where the guitar plays the former and the trombone the latter.
