Gruuv-founders Audiojack will be releasing the second single from their forthcoming album this April. Feels Good, produced in collaboration with esteemed singer-songwriter Jem Cooke, will land on Crosstown Rebels and includes a remix from melodic techno talent Patrice Bäumel. This is the second single to be released ahead of the album with Under Your Skin, made with Kevin Knapp, being the first.

Speaking on the release, Audiojack stated that: “Crosstown introduced us to Jem a few years ago through a remix. Jem is an amazing songwriter, her flawless vocals are great to work with and resonate well with our sound.”

Jem Cooke echoed the duo’s praise, describing how: “The collaboration with Audiojack came about after their remix of So Long - a track I did with Made By Pete. The boys are amazing and I loved what they did with that remix so when they asked if I'd be up for trying something new together, I obviously said yes.”

Feels Good sets off swiftly, merging prominent kick-clap combos with shimmering pulses throughout. It’s a real peak-time number, enhanced by Jem’s touching vocal offering, that showcases the stripped-back and ethereal theme of the single. Patrice Bäumel’s remix soon arrives and brings with it a poignant combination of celestial pads and rolling synth tones, as Jem’s stunning lyrical contributions magnify the track’s moving nature once more.

Leeds-born and now based in Ibiza, Audiojack have been at the forefront of electronic music for over a decade. In recent times the Gruuv-label founders have released their Isolation Tapes series to widespread industry acclaim, using music to provide a way out from the feelings of anxiety caused by lockdown and separation. UK singer-songwriter Jem Cooke is no stranger to Crosstown Rebels. First debuting on the label in 2018 alongside Made By Pete on So Long, it was later that year that Audiojack went on to remix the single. More recently, Jem collaborated with Damian on Into The Sun from his 2020 Flourish LP. A well-established member of the Crosstown Rebels family, Patrice Bäumel is one of Germany’s greatest exponents. Recent productions on Watergate Records and Systematic Recordings continue to showcase the emotive sound with which he’s become best known, whilst his performance at DGTL’s virtual festival last year marked another step in his ever-flourishing career.

Coming from a family of musicians, Fiona Kraft has always been surrounded by music and started to play piano when she was just a child. As a teenager, she modelled for some of the biggest agencies but also worked as a resident DJ in a club on a barge in Lyon named La Plateforme. Music production and the desire to express her soul followed in 2019 and after her debut single ‘Arenaz’ on Tinnit Music she has landed on the likes of Sudam Recordings. She has developed a distinctive style that blends an Afro house vibe with tight beats and has shared decks with Black Coffee, Miss Kittin, Guy Gerber and many more. This new single is a real celebration of freedom. “The Beat Of Freedom is my personal ode to getting back to normality," says the artist. "During the lockdown I wrote extensive lyrics about freedom and dance. After I wrote the synth lines and laid down the drums I asked legendary Italian vocalist Tanja Monies to sing over it.“ The single is deeply immersive, with lithe and elegant drums sweeping you up. Soulful synths dance above the drums and the spine tingling vocal elevates things to another level entirely.

Family is key to everything we do at Solide, so it’s natural that we’re always on the look-out for kindred musical spirits to welcome into the fold. We found that much desired connection in the work of Avangart Tabldot, a trio of childhood friends from Turkey, who came together under the idea that three musical brains are better than one.
Their EP ‘Strangest Nights’ feels inextricably linked to the rolling grooves and high reaching melodies that form Solide’s own DNA. Whilst ‘Kindess All Over’ channels the romance of beachy sunsets the title track takes a deeper turn, featuring vocals from Paul Brenning; another artist returning to the Solide family after his collaboration with MYNY last year.

Right before the end of this amazing year we are having Paris based artist I Promised Mom already for the third time this year on our imprint. After "Aux Amours Oublies" and "Dark Disko Mafioso" this is now a fantastic journey into a forest for all of our lost souls. In addition to this pumping title track we invited Joone again (remember his "Otherdisco" remix?). He is the man for the special contrasts and – oh yeah – this is another brilliant interpretation of an Original work. Focused on the vocals and his typical bassline artwork – what a handscript! Lets have a rave in the forest! The fishes are dancing in the sea meanwhile.

Henri Bergmann’s Automatik label sources an array of talent with its inaugural Various Artists compilation, featuring 15 essential club-ready cuts.

Automatik deals in progressive and melodic techno from across the underground spectrum and is now a well-regarded outlet for fresh club sounds with the boss's own tunes at the heart of it all. Following a great series of remixes and original EPs comes this bumper collection which really lays out the label's unique sonic signature.

In curating the work, Bergmann found inspiration from her local London scene and has hand-selected some of the UK’s burgeoning artists and friends to feature alongside herself, including Hardt Antoine, Paride Saraceni, Sahar, Cenkk & Pattn.

Henri kicks off the VA with ‘Vision’, the strobe-lit, arpeggiated synth laced techno cut, before Monophase's ‘Valkyrie’ locks you into a spine tingling atmosphere with epic synths over rolling drums. Underspreche brings the trance with an ethereal vocal hook to the stylish ‘Il Canto Delle Fate’, Paride Saraceni's ‘Intuition’ is full of taut synths and dramatic chords and Yet More's ‘What You Heard’ chops up tortured vocals and dark rolling beats.

‘US’ will swirl across the dancefloor with the enrapturing melodies of Betical, ‘Rizzo’ goes for plenty of tension and clattering percussive texture by Argia and Bergmann & Hardt Antoine then join forces and get more raw and direct with the potent ‘Can't Escape’.

Cenkk brings his epic signature operatic vocals alongside well-treated strings over supple beats; Bigfett nails a heavier groove with more turbulent energy and raw percussion; Jono Stephenson layers angelic vocal snippets over rhythmic beats to take you on a soulful journey; and Kaive serves up a cosmic techno exploration full of energy and emotion.

A trio of tasteful tracks rounds off the compilation: Tobak keeps it elegant and bright with magnificent chord work dancing in the sky; Pattn features an emotionally charged vocal, wrangling through an atmosphere of tense dystopia with ‘Indecision’; while Sahar programmes perfectly nimble drums overlaid with pixelated Krautrock synths that send you home after a real rollercoaster of techno excellence that covers all bases in style.

This is a superb collection of forward thinking sounds.
