Stein - thank you for letting us into this part of your world.  It is astounding in the connection between artist and instrument.  Controlled but from the heart.  Thank you for the gift of download - 3.44 is a wonderful passage of searching...4.10 resolution is revelatory.  This is one to listen to again and again.  But at it's core it's one of the most soulful and emotional works I've heard from you.  Absolutely connected and has a spirit of depth of mourning of hope and ultimately that of being.  Here. Now. 6.33 another wonderful movement in the ascending and dissonance - the struggle for harmony but the inability to resolve.  This is what an imrovisation should truly be - a heart and hand and instrument - all being present in the moment unsure of how the moment will end.  A gift.

Nocturne, 14 July - One Year Ago - Piano Solo

This song is dedicated to my youngest son Pasha, where I have tried to put his wedding day and what happened after his standing up, onto music:  

In the first part of this song, Pasha is waking up, and the significance of the day is starting to sink in.

In the second part, Pasha is awake and he begins his drive towards his bride to be, and the feelings of excitement and anticipation grow.

In the third part of this day and song (bridge), he sees his wife to be and the beautiful wedding dress she's wearing for the first time and he is speechless.

In the fourth part, they drive to the city hall, to commence their wedding ceremony.

In the fifth part, they are finally pronounced married and they can start their new lives together as a true and committed married couple.

In the sixth part, the joy and congratulations abound from family and friends and the happiness on their faces is evident to all present.

In the seventh part (bridge), the start of their new life is captured by beautiful photos and their faces are beaming and shining with joy.

In the eighth part, the real celebrations begin with a big party and the cutting of the wedding cake.

In the ninth part, all who are present join in on the festivities and dance in celebration of the marriage between Pasha and Nastya.

In the tenth and final part of this song and day, the couple leaves to officiate and everybody can fill in the rest of the story. 

This is just my own musical interpretation of the strength of emotions coming from what I felt and saw in my son's eyes. After I first shared this song with him, he liked it very much, so I now share it with you all, as I am sure that many people can relate to the strength of emotions experienced on such special days of true love and commitment.

Yes, I don´t think, therefore I am,,,,   this is a 9 minute non thinking improv,,, it´s the result of a very heavy week....    

please don´t listen to just the first few seconds,,, this is like a cigar, smoke it and it should get better.       My friends,,, I think this is one of the very best improv I´ve ever done....   as soon as I started I knew,, this one is just going to keep going till it ends,,, 

   this is personal stuff,,,    lots of strange chords, notes out of order,,,  new age, classical   everything....

this year has been a journey—profoundly moving and filled with change, both in the world around us and in my own life. As an artist, I often find myself sitting at the piano with no clear plan, letting the music unfold on its own.

This time, something unexpected happened. I started playing in a major key—a rarity for me—and the piece turned out light, almost childlike. As I played, an unplanned memory popped into my mind: a little scene of riding my bike as a child. It’s strange how music can stir up such vivid, unexpected feelings. Has that ever happened to you?
