Wind is an action produced from the property of air, that evokes movement across our earth. Like wind creates movement in physical matter, this next compilation creates a wind of movement within us. Following up from a series of compilations that interpret different concepts surrounding the elements of life, we return to WIND for Volume 2 in this series. Spacey, atmospheric melodies move through us when interacting with this compilation. Industrial pulsing basslines and dramatic synths overwhelm the senses and ignite a desire to move and be free. Boris gets deep, dark and techno with his intro track “Zinger” which leads into the pulsing, synth driven sounds of Loco & Jam in “Ripper.” Old school vocal samples enlighten us in “El Bailey” produced by Dirtysoxxx in collaboration with The Reactivitz. We also hear again from George Privatti, and welcome Daniel Spanjard, Sonate and Berlanga to the WIND compilation mix.

Contort Yourself is extremely proud to present a double LP of original 80s underground cassette music.

The 1980s. Neo-liberal excess. Crumbling communism. Military juntas ruling with an iron fist. And of course, freaked out music. Contort Yourself are turning back the clock and returning to an unholy fount of inspiration with "80s Underground Cassette Culture Volume 1." A buffet of beaten up and brutalised tracks are on offer from unknown outfits and respected experimenters. Across two LPs expect to find noise reductions, post punk bitterness, no wave grunts, distortion soaked strings and vocals lost in a hail of pain. A road map into the weird and wild world of DIY back alley artists who, armed with only a tape and an idea, gave the established music norms a sharp fist to the throat.

80s Underground Cassette Culture Volume 1 - Double LP - PREVIEW

The Trickfinger project was recorded 10 years ago with no intention of being released at the time, made purely for discovery and learning experience.  

"In my opinion, making music with no intention of releasing it is the best thing a musician can do for his own development in this day and age. The Trickfinger LP was made in that mindset, and it was the beginning of a new musical life for me. When I hear it, it sounds like I am opening up doorways to new worlds, and I never have had that feeling listening to music I made for the purpose of releasing it and selling it.”

All the music was recorded live onto a CD burner, through a cheap mixer.  John would sit on a chair, in his living room, surrounded by five to 15 machines, and just keep programming and jamming until the track was ready to be recorded. There were no overdubs – recorded all live.

Acid Test unearthed these recordings and John agreed to a release.  Trickfinger II is the second part to the recordings made during the winter of 2007.

Trickfinger II will be released September 8th, 2017  LP/CD/Digital on Acid Test, distributed worldwide by Wordandsound.
