Berlin-based Stephanie Sykes is one of the most sought-after and distinguished figures to come out of the UK techno scene within the last decade. Sykes has honed a sound that has a hypnotic raw energy, which has led her to some of the most esteemed club booths in world. Regularly holding it down on dance floors such as Berghain and Fabric this year, Steph holds an extreme amount of poise and composure whilst conjuring infectious rhythm and groove. This headstrong approach has had Stephanie tour every corner of the globe for over a decade and still remains one of the most coveted techno selectors on the circuit right now. In both the studio and behind the decks Stephanie strives to bring a gritty modern spin on ambient, techno and experimental electronica, carefully curated and skilfully arranged into one seamless journey.

Stephanie Sykes & Tommy Four Seven - Awakenings Spring Festival 2023

Born and raised in Germany up to the age of 13 before being uprooted and moved to the UK, Stephanie Sykes credits her Midlands coming of age with having instilled a deep love of electronic music in her. As well as making life-long friends in her northern milieu, it also pushed her to experiment more, and with this her creative passion quickly set her up as one of the UK’s most alluring talents. Fast-forward to today and for over a decade, she’s jumped from venue to venue with a highly developed personal sound that captivates in its 4/4 mastery. This rumbling techno has landed her a residency at Berlin staple Tresor, and gigs at a standard-issue list of big name venues in all four hemispheres. in case that didn’t suffice, she’s also got a growing number of releases to her name on publishers like BPitch, VENT, ://about blank and Tommy Four Seven’s 47 imprint. It’s techno with a simple mission, making people move. But don’t take anyone’s word for it, it’s best felt personally, and on a monster soundsystem if you can find it. Bassiani Podcast 213 is straight up techno, phlegmatically cool and tenacious in its course, an hour of swinging kick-drums and rubbery beats matched and mixed to perfection. 30 years of Fuse means 30 years of road paving. 

In over a quarter century, Fuse has stood the test of time by rooting itself in ageless music and employing pioneering artists - large or small, international or local - to command the decks of Belgium’s longest running dance floor. A celebration of this legacy and the renewed imprint is in order, coming in the form of a 30 track compilation of techno’s best and brightest from around the world. One track for one year, this collection of recordings highlights the status quo of enduring club music, beginning with a nod to the past: a re-release of Jeff Mills iconic ‘Step to Enchantment’ from 1993. This glance to the past quickly shoots us forward into the current state of techno with legendary artists like Planetary Assault Systems, DVS1, Steffi, Rødhåd, Donato Dozzy, DJ Nobu and many others who headlined the club in recent years. Cementing itself as a respected escapist institution, Fuse also calls on its growing local scene to prove why Brussels continues to remain a reference in the scene even outside of its own borders. 

An ode to the past and a hint to the future, Fuse shares this milestone with its original guests from 1994 all the way to its fresh party goers of the past years as a promise to keep its dance floor focused on quality music and timeless moments.

With their piece AB1, NX1 take a powerful, break-fueled percussive line, keeping an eye on the big floor with their huge reverb rooms, while STEPHANIE SYKES, who grew so close to our hearts, presents a real peak time-slammer with her track BLUR, that definitely references to her brimming, energetic DJ sets.
JAY QUENTIN, also a friend of the club for many years, nourishes a lot of warmth and depth in his track INFORMATION SUPERHIGH, which remains still pushing enough for the dancefloor - perfect for a special B side.
