This piece takes inspiration from two Dvorak melodies: Song to the Moon from his popular opera, Rusalka, and O Grant Me in the Dust to Fall, from the oratorio, St. Ludmila. It quotes both pieces and then develops unique variations of each, at times melding the two together. It also draws upon the use of chromatic mediants, a technique most beloved by Dvorak, to introduce new tonal colors. The title draws inspiration from the aforementioned works, and like the music, is an amalgam of both. This homage to Dvorak is scored for viola, his primary instrument. The duration will vary according to the style and pacing of the player.
