I observe Beauty from afar;
Her glowing skin
Her dark eyes
Her parted lips-

an insatiable,
delicious misery
seeps into my blood-

Her lilting voice
draws me near
until Her divine, saccharine scent
constricts my lungs, and-

I gasp-
sealing my fate as
Her Elysian gaze meets mine-

my heart shrieks
my eyes go dark
and I succumb to death.

when you left
you took a piece of me
without my consent
stealing me
robbing me
of myself
leaving me
incomplete

why did you take her from me
when she was mine?

i spent twenty years
searching for her
calling out to her
when finally i found her
in the mirror

she smiled at me
my piece
and said
i am always with you

Where we once sat
on your porch swing
counting the seconds between thunder
talking to each other about all the little things

Where we once stood
in your kitchen
baking cookies for the holidays
laughing at the flour on faces

Where we once walked
through the woods
behind your backyard every summer
going on adventures to nowhere in particular

Where I now sit
in silence
in a room that was once so loud

Where I now stand
staring blankly
at a house that was once full of love

Where I now walk
alone
in a world that once had you
