I've been hyperfixated on Lana del Rey's cover of this song, Lana's voice is beautiful but  what really drew me in was the writing. this is how I ended up in a Leonard Cohen rabbit hole, he has the most amazing abstract writing style and is starting to become one of my new inspirations. his poems make me cry lol

I wrote this song for myself. It's not necessarily about love, but it is about one of it’s many struggles. I've always romanticized running away with someone else away from the doubts and worries-just you and them. There's a sort of prioritization that exists when you fall in love. The overbearing angst, the impulsiveness, but most importantly, the spark of certainty that feels like you want to be with the other person forever. In retrospect, it may seem a bit naïve or self-centered, maybe even delusional, but I think there's a certain honesty and pureness that lies beneath.  I absolutely adore the human experience.
