ELEGY 2000 is a unique experience that delves into personal and spiritual commitments that people find themselves making. I had been inspired to make this project after the release of “phases” in late March. Following the release of “phases”, I remember going to church for the first time in months on 3/30/25. I had been called to be there because they had been offering baptisms the same day. The holy spirit grasped on to me that day and told me that I was ready to fully submit and commit my life and soul over to my savior. From that day forward, God has been giving me countless challenges to overcome to test my faith in him. Being transparent, I have failed several tests since the baptism and my faith has wavered on multiple occasions. There were times where I relied on worldly influences to fill a void that only God could replace. Each time I would fall, God made it known that he was here for me to confide in, yet I rejected his love and grace on countless occasions, cursing his good name. As I spent more time denying him, the climate within me turned ice cold. The things of the world that I used to cope with became more important than the source of my joy and accomplishments. As the project began wrapping up, I recall several angels in my life coaxing me out of this low state. Though the conversations were intimidating, I am grateful to have had them because they brought me back to my savior. Originally this project was going to be an EP, yet I knew that there was a bigger message being conveyed and 4 songs wouldn’t accomplish this goal. Ultimately, I wanted to invoke an internal dilemma of wanting to be reinvented, yet not dedicating enough time or divine effort in order to do so. Sort of how one bad apple could taint the bunch as well as how a few good seeds could inspire others to produce wonderful fruit. Sort of how the pleasures of the world are all fake and make-believe compared to the pleasure that is provided when we choose to follow him. Sort of how walking with him will always be better than walking against him; no matter how the world tempts us into thinking the opposite.
