Mucking 'Round

The Supreme Court announced Friday that it will decide a historic question about whether the Constitution requires that same-sex couples be allowed to marry no matter where they live, or whether states are free to limit the definition of as a union only between a man and a woman. The court accepted cases from Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee, where restrictions about same-sex marriage were upheld by an appeals court in Cincinnati two months ago. The high court will hold oral arguments in April and decide the issue by the time the current term ends in June. Until then, we wait.

Waiting for the Words

Stephen Lowell's musical influences span an impressive array of genre's and geographies. As a child he stayed up way past bedtime with a radio listening to Gene Shay spin folk and bluegrass out of Philadelphia. He continued his studies at Tulane University in New Orleans, where he learned far more about the soul of music outside of the classroom; listening in the clubs and playing on the streets. His later travels across Africa and Indonesia further contributed to his unique musical perspective. All these influences seep into Lowell's unique blend of folk, bluegrass, blues and roots music.
