Kia Ora Dance crew!

This was my first event back in my hometown after being abroad and it was beautiful to see so many familiar faces and feel you all on the dance-floor.

This dance came at a time when there was A LOT going on, not only for me as the facilitator, but in the wider collective. Not to mention we were midway through Eclipse season. My co- facilitator Lexi and I took the opportunity to work with the polarity that comes with the   lunar eclipse, dark meets light and there is the potential for our shadow to come to the surface. This isn't always easy to see and feel so we worked with the adrenals throughout this dance,  tuning first into the calm state of our body available to us and slowly feeling into the stress responses that we feel in life, moment to moment, which ultimately are there to keep us safe- and how do we switch between the calm and stressed by self regulating, whilst also getting curious - curious to look at what comes up without judgement. By moving through these responses with awareness and a felt sense of returning to calm whenever we need with the tools we have- utilising the breath, focusing on your back body, counting a box breath, tapping, engaging in the senses, essentially coming into the present moment. 

This journey is deep and punchy, but has heaps of space and ends in a beautiful, peaceful reset nervous system. 

Will be sick for a gym sesh too.

Somatic Dance Auckland - Adrenals

Lady who loves to dance and vibe with good music. Almost anything can get me moving but my old school days or rap and hip hop got me going and it has definitely shifted more from most kinds of house can do it for me. I love funky jazzy house music and melodies with saxophones and other instruments, guitar and piano for sure! 
I love making playlists and always have, even had cd clubs when I was in my 20s. One day I hope to create my own music for ecstatic dance!
