Buddhist melodies have been described as being strong, but not fierce; yielding, but not formless; pure, but not monotonous; soothing, but not spiritless, and hearing them can help to purify the hearts of listeners. The teachings or Dharma of the Buddha mention music on many occasions. It is written in Amitabha Sutra, that heavenly singing and chanting is heard all day and night in the world around us: as flowers softly rain down from the heavens; as birds produce beautiful and harmonious music; the blowing of a gentle breeze; "the rows of jeweled trees and jeweled nets give forth subtle and wonderful sounds, like one hundred thousand kinds of music played at the same time. All those who hear these sounds naturally bring forth in their hearts mindfulness of the Buddha, mindfulness of the Dharma…" all playing together in harmony, to guide sentient beings to enlightenment.

The music on this album invites you to think how beauty matters. Our artists, internationally recognized ambassador of Tibetan music and culture, Tsering Tan and China's rising star of the harp, Zhang Xiaoyin, together with producer 
Ye Yunchuan have shared a dream to open a new path into the heart of Tibet's ancient, spiritual music, a music
universally recognized for it's healing properties. Together, they agreed that the lifestyle common to most people today is too busy and stressful; every day, people run around lost in themselves and losing their peace. The music they have chosen comes directly from the hymns and sutras of Tibetan
Buddhism, some with their traditional melodies, others newly composed by Reshi Tsering Tan. To this mystic hymnody, Zhang Xiaoyin provides her own musical meditations on her harp, together with a small ensemble of traditional singers and instrumentalists. 


We invite you to join them on a journey to a place where beautiful things and the mind of the perceiver converge;
their gentle, inspired improvisations will calm your mind, and re-energize your spirit, and offer you a glimpse of Shangri-La.
