This week sees Rich Vacated flip the featured album and label focus around, shining the light on a recent label and looking back at a genre-defining album. This week’s label focus hones in on Speedy J’s Electric Deluxe, a label that started in 2008 and has gone on to help shape the new breed of techno. Whilst this weeks featured album comes from one of the key figures in techno today, Regis’ 1996 début album Gymnastics.

What better way to mark the 20th anniversary of Tronic, his forward-thinking label, than creating a new artist album? Christian Smith stands out as one of the worlds leading exponents of inventive, diverse techno and Stranger Than Paradise continues his enthralling, ever-evolving musical journey with aplomb. The fact that Tronic is one of the Top 5 selling techno labels in the world is a mark of a man who stands for nothing less than pure quality. 
Having previously released benchmark, critically acclaimed LPs Omakase (2013) and Directors Cut (2010) Christian Smith is no stranger to creating supreme, danceoor orientated albums, that explore and showcase his diverse musical style. Both as a DJ and producer, he is always innovative and bold, a leader not a follower. 
Alongside the jaw-dropping excellence of the solo tracks, this new album also features dynamic, inventive collaborations with Wehbba (Christians great friend and regular collaborator), the New York based house music legend Cevin Fisher, long-time studio collaborator John Selway (of Smith &amp; Selway fame), and Christians childhood friend and hip-hop artist Arcturus Ra. 
The Stranger Than Paradise album project will be unveiled rst as four singles released at weekly intervals through the month of October, with the full album release following in the rst week of November on 12 vinyl and digital formats. An album remix pack will be released in December.

Paride Saraceni delivers a threefold blow with this EP, kicking things off with the title track which is based on a strong, arpeggiated riff over a rumbling bassline and grandiose chords which constantly emanate style and finesse. &#8220;Lost In Space&#8221; is up next, opting for a more subliminal route, complete with mystical pads and thick stabs over a percussion-led groove. Sealing the deal is &#8220;Pragma&#8221;, where we are treated to a synth attack, with constantly-evolving electronics and growling synthesis, while the locomotive rhythm section clears everything in its way.

Paride Saraceni - The Only Way (Original Mix)

As we unfold the second instalment of our annual compilation of exclusive gems we couldn&#8217;t be more excited to have Mr. Eric Sneo kick things off with the aptly titled -yet grinding- &#8220;Beauty Of The Sky&#8221;, followed closely by the rocksteady groove and haunting electronics of Arjun Vagale. Rafa Barrios picks up from there, strips things down to a bare minimum and adds a cheeky sample which everyone will recognize. Paride Saraceni graces us with a heads-down number, complete with house strings and meaty chords, while Matt Sassari and Reinier Zonneveld give us the claustrophobic &#8220;Gas&#8221;. Closing up, Raffaele Rizzi&#8217;s &#8220;Rebus&#8221; constantly evolves and builds over a rubber-band bassline and commading vocals.

After appearing on our sister label Truesoul and also the A-sides Volume 2, dubspeeka releases his first full EP on Drumcode. Basing his sound heavily on his uniquely dark and twisted melodies, dubspeeka has created a brooding, atmospheric EP that capture each individual feeling on the techno scale from bouncing, energetic tracks to melancholic offerings. His use of Percussive sounds add energy to tracks such as Primary K290 and his array of eloquent lead lines add depth and character that can be heard on Primary K293.
