This song was written about a conversation I had with a friend of mine about her favourite time of day - the twilight. That time of day when just before the sun comes up and just after it sets. Twilight features Debra Debs on vocals. I had a female vocal in mind especially for the vocal scat sections.

"Horizon Line" is a song I wrote about how we look at success and achievement. It tells the story of a man who has set himself the goal of reaching the horizon line only to find himself getting frustrated when he doesn't seem to get any closer.

The song was inspired by a psychologist (whose name I can't remember) who pointed out that most people judge their success by how much closer they are to reaching their goal. Sometimes it seems we are not getting any nearer but if we were only to turn around and look at how far we've come and how much we've accomplished up to this point, we would see our situation in a different more positive light.

I actually wrote this for a full band but I was never happy with the chorus so it has undergone several re-writes over the last couple of years. This acoustic demo showcases its current state, with the actual song portion re-written. When the proper full version is recorded there will be a lot more going on than just voice and guitar.
