The Passion

Who ever said French horn was boring.... nutters! I needed a break from my usual studio time so I decided to play around with some sounds and effects. I took a French horn sample (the first sound you hear) and added effects from Native Instruments Guitar rig (Traktor's Gater & RingMOD, RESOChord, and a Compressor), That's the second sound. Then I recorded a 4 bar sequence changing the RESOChords using Automation) which is the third sound you hear. I then chopped up a beat, added a bass line using Native Instruments Massive, and then added (eventually) the French Horn sound which now resembles a Gated Chord sequence. Lastly.... I added the melody to one of my favourite hymns. Man I need to get out more!!

When I decided to put the Lord's prayer to music I wanted to try and preserve the lyrics without adding anything of my own. I've moved things around a little but am really happy with the results. Look forward to trying it out with the congregation.

This is a demo of a new song Revival. I put this together for the band. The song came out of reading Spurgeon's essays on revival, who needs revival, and what revival's all about really. I guess I've heard so many Christians singing with their hands up in the air and smiles on their face asking for revival. I wonder if they really know what they are asking. When God moves mightily in a revival people are broken before they are renewed. There is a whole lot of breaking before remaking by the spirit. In the song I ask God to humble my heart so that I may truly know His presence and for His Kingdom and Glory fall on earth.

Playing around with dynamics and studio gear. Recorded this with my shure KSM32 through my UA Twin Finity pre. Added reverb as well as compression through an 1176. It's a rework of an old hymn. One of my favourites.
