Riva Starr and Tiger Stripes drop their debut collaborative EP, with the inspired ‘Sound Of The Bettest’.

We first got an inkling of the exciting partnership that may exist between Stefano Miele (Riva Starr) and Mikael Nordgren (Tiger Stripes) last November, when Stefano presented his new Hyperloop project on Truesoul. Not only was it one of 2017’s standout releases for the label, it featured an exciting re-work by Tiger Stripes of EP track ‘Fallen Angel’, giving us a sense of the musical harmony that exists between the pair and taste of what was to come. 

With Riva Starr’s background as a jungle/breakbeat DJ and Tiger Stripes long-history in techno, together with the pair’s shared love of dirty house beats, ‘Sound Of The Bettest’ is a wicked melting pot of both their pasts and passions. Hammered by Adam Beyer, the title track is driven by a stunning groovy bass, warehouse MCing and deft breakbeat interludes. ‘Move It’, is a rough and tough accompaniment, characterised by a bad arse jungle bassline and breakbeats, impactful vocals and  and stomping techno beats.

Viers clocks back in on Figure duty, showing up with up for another strong statement of his unmistakenly singular style. Here he is working it from all angles:
 Straight up and searingly stoic techno opener Let My Mind Breath is grinding away grittily, while things turn surprisingly bouncy, as Genesis dishes out electrifying boom-bap-breakbeats, transporting imagery of neo-futuristic Tokyo streets. 
As night sets in, so does the kinetic groove of Oyasumi, which twirls layers of energetic movement into a thick current, zooming through the city’s deep gorges of concrete and fiber glass. 
Closing track Data Entry 4590 finally provides some soothing ambient tones of melancholic longing, inviting to slowly drift away into white-washed nothingness and process the bright color storm that Viers lets unfold on this intense record.

After an excellent performance at Drumcode Festival, Tiger Stripes comes strong with his first EP on the label since 2009.

Since 2015 Tiger Stripes has been an invaluable contributor to Drumcode’s ‘little brother’ Truesoul. As recent as March he released ‘Sound of the Bettest’ in collaboration with Riva Starr, their fresh raggainfluenced take on techno entrenched as a 2018 highlight for the label. Drawing from a wide palette of sounds to craft his groovy, personality-laden take on techno, the Swede has produced arguably his finest work yet with the ‘Insanity’ EP. ‘Baby’ is a melting pot of three decades worth of influences, from James Brown, to Northern Soul and indie pop of Ariel Pink.

The result is a stunning kaleidoscopic techno treat, that brims with rave, garage and funky house spirit. ‘Insane’ is a dynamic feast for the eardrums as trippy arpeggios, a persistent vocal and lush synth leads cascade throughout the seven-minute track. ‘Too Deep (to Bear) follows, an exhilarating slice of late-night techno before the EP concludes with ‘Dying Planet’, mixing up a potent environmental message with tough dancefloor functionalism.

Afterlife Recordings proudly presents ‘Nude’, the debut album of Swiss duo Adriatique. It’s Adrian Shala and Adrian Schweizer’s most personal artistic statement yet, a collection of songs, capturing their feelings and memories.
The two Adrians’ close friendship and complementary skill sets have helped develop Adriatique into one of the most esteemed acts on the house and techno circuit. Their releases since 2011 have come through leading labels such as Diynamic, Cityfox and their own imprint, Siamese. They signed to Afterlife early in 2018 with the club-ready single ‘Ray’. It followed a remix of Tale Of Us & Vaal’s anthemic ‘Monument’ and announced Adriatique as a core artist both on Afterlife Recordings and at their events in Ibiza as well as
worldwide.
‘Nude’ is the most diverse and adventurous record in the catalogs of both artist and label. It switches between slick, downtempo electronica and driving club fare without breaking stride. Afforded the freedom that comes with a full-length album, we hear another side of Adriatique.

After making their debut with us on the 'Fancy Sauce Vol. II' compilation, San Diego based duo Looner releases their first ever EP. The 'Jungle Schizo' EP is a headtrip through cruising tech house presenting sounds that call on the idea of getting lost out in the brush: chirps, tribal percussion, and ambience galore. The A-side, "Jungle Schizo," delivers rolling low end and intoxicating sound design with a spaced out vocal which spirals into an undeniable groove. "What Vibe," on the B-side, balances the affair with even more dissonance and trippy soundscapes escalating into what could very well be one of our favorite tracks in the Chub Rub family to date.

Looner makes us geek every time they send us IDs. We hope this EP makes you geek, too.

When Raid Zero approached us with this EP, we were gobsmacked. A largely unknown talent, the San Francisco based producer delivered four cuts of warehouse ready weaponry that were chunky, atmospheric, and visceral. "Breathe" is a churning, dark wobbler that recalls fever dreams of the 90's warehouse scene. This is followed up by "Gibberish": a track built on rising tension and delayed synth stabs for a lighter, airier feel. "Analogue" dials in the grit before finally ending with "Drumcode" which brings the EP full circle on a bed of irresistible low-end and haunting sound design. We hope you like his sound as much as we do.
