We are Steppin' Cerca. Born soon after many a musical exchange amongst friends, beats and sessions, close to the ocean, in Viña del Mar, Chile, we are the byproduct of rough drafts, rehearsals and conversations of music.....Steppin' Cerca can be understood as the result of cultural exchanges. Steppin' "close"….close to your eardrum. We are beat junkies. Cultural Remixers. Taking the field for the crew is the "gringo loco" direct from Boston, USA (Beatmaker/Producer/MC, dj NAstynaTE), the ex-natty dreadlock MC, Mikele (Viña del Mar, Chile), and our latest acquisition, Dj Doblebeat (Santiago,Chile). We embody a mix of "música negra" with its roots in old school hip-hop, funk, soul, jazz and Latin music. Steppin' fondly recollects upon our May 14th, 2010 debut in Valparaíso to never again leave the stages of the "cuidad porteña". We define ourselves as exhibitioners of a new vision of hip-hop, redefining our own beginnings and musical ideals. Lab rats. Always in search of an expressive and sincere proposition of art and culture. Looking for the way to express ourselves, leaving behind marginal stereotypes. We humbly define our own paths and limits, trying to globalize our proposition like a virus, with our debut album ad portas, we are fortunate to be able to form part of "la música chilena".....Step by step we are the authors of our own history.....
