Komenda (INVŌKER Remix) | DHI | Premiere

The fourth Applied Magic release comes courtesy of Komenda, two alluring Süßboys from the flatlands of the North German Plain.

All tracks are unique in their own little way, just like the minds that created them. A manifestation of the idea that art must constantly move forward, that there are still new ideas and uncharted territories out there. You just have to seek them out.

Tunno could be best described as the sound of a dying dial-up modem, sending stuttering morse code to the depths of interplanetary space. Reminiscent of 90s bleep sound, warped and filtered through a prism of contemporary, cutting edge dance music.Guaranteed goosebump material!

356 really has its own pulse. 5 to the floor, straight yet broken, an everchanging, perpetually repeating mantra that just sticks in your head and never leaves you again. An unlikely earworm if you just let it catch you.

French hypertalent INVŌKER's remix for Tunno takes the original and wraps it up in a warm and cozy blanket. Classic Detroit pads meet a colorful, almost Balearic sound design with the monochromatic, angular original melody still shining through, transporting it from outer space to outside - somewhere near the beach.

The whole package is topped off with an artwork by David Kochs, who is not only a singular producer and DJ but obviously a really good designer as well.

Frank Wiedemann  - Moorthon II

The debut EP from electronic live duo Stereocalypse on Siamese Records.
Title track ‘Lace Star’ is a subtle yet hypnotic record. Sterocalypse utilise the full duration of the track to add layers to an ever evolving soundscape, with a guitar, echoing synths and a subtle bassline coming together towards the track’s climax.
It’s followed by the humorously titled ‘Not A B Side’, an atmospheric cut with a fusion of percussive and electronic elements giving it an exotic feel. The EP rounds off with ‘Shandy’s Eagle’; showing a little more of the duo’s experimental side, its trippy synth layers and soft bassline make for an ideal way to round off this eclectic EP.
Stereocalypse aim to combine experience and instinct, analog feeling and modern textures in their boundary-free work. A completely new project from two experienced producers, the ‘Lace Star’ EP is a statement of intent from the duo.

Alessandro Parlatore and Marcello Giordani’s four-tracker explores parallel worlds through expert synthesizer sequencing and cavernous vocal features. Celestial melodies paired with Athena’s stream of consciousness Italian recital guarantees Superior Conjunction’s dance floor devastation. 
 
Arpadia’s hypnotic theme compliments the title track’s restrained drama, while the Fantastic Twins’ spoken-word elevates The Train of Fantastic to an altered state of being. 
 
The EP is out on June 16th, right on time for this year’s Life and Death OFF Sonar event in Barcelona.

Marvin & Guy - Superior Conjunction (Original Mix)

I didn’t upload any of my productions over the past 1,5 years, but I have been making music more than ever. 
I didn’t upload any of those tracks yet because my personal expectations became much higher. When I work on sets it takes me months of collecting and arranging all those carefully chosen tracks. When I work on my productions, I really go into detail and spend months perfecting the production, arrangement and mix... because I really want to tell a story with my music! I can’t wait to be done with my studies and solely focus on my music. Until then my output will be rare, that I’m sure of. 

But the day has come: I am finally uploading a new track of mine. A reinterpretation of Ludovico Einaudi’s “Una Mattina”. I took me quite a while to finish it, I even had it mastered two times, but now I just have to upload it to give you a glimpse of what I’ve been doing and how I’ve evolved over the past months (and to not go totally crazy while remixing and rearranging it another thousand times). 
And let me tell you one more thing... the best is yet to come! 😊

Opening the EP, Panem sets the tone as it delivers a dark and alluring soundscape that draws you in deep with its hypnotic percussion. Apart is equally as mesmeric. A steady roller with gurgling keys that transport you to a magical darkened forest, perfect for the early morning hours. “I sent ‘Panem’ to my good friend André Hommen right after I finished the track and he immediately said that this is the record he was waiting for in regards to his label, These Eyes. During a long B2B set in the early hours, we realized that ‘Apart’ paired up nicely to complete the release. Two tracks, two eyes.”

Our new EP is a mandala of earthy and electric tones blended together with soft, driving drama. Two storytellers join the Souq ranks; Turkish Omerar Nanda and Russian Zuma Dionys complement each other’s worlds with ease, gifting us with an entrancing piece of work where traditional folk sounds are curbed by edgy electric ones. Hebele Hubulu comically refers to the language of those who speak with dogma and pretence, its cascading vocals emulating nonsense words in a jaunty march forward. It is a call to reflect on how you speak to and of the world, a call on not taking yourself so seriously. Berlin Based Zuma Dionys crafts cosmic landscapes in his work, this time serving us the zesty Belantash, rhythmically coiling and clapping, reaching a peak of electronic Oriental groove implosion. We hope you enjoy this peculiar beauty of an EP.
