This song Head Over Heels that I co-wrote with super producer Ian Kirkpatrick was introduced to the world in an episode of Jersey Shore! The Situation had just finished GTL and this song played in the background as he admired himself in the mirror before the proceeded on to the shit show 😂

I’ve never really said anything about this publicly until now. Flashback 12 years ago and my band is opening at HOB Anaheim. We are nervous because the producer who is fresh off the high of Lady Gaga’s Poker Face is in the audience to watch us play! After the show, I sit down and have a drink with him. He says he liked our set and that he’d love for me to send him some material we’ve been working on. The first of the songs I send is this one called “Fire on the Dance Floor.” He replies and says he digs the music, but then it’s crickets from then on. 4 months later, we hear a song on the radio called “Fire Burning on the Dance Floor” by Sean Kingston. I thought, “wow, what an unfortunate coincidence”! Then, out of curiosity, I looked up who produced the track… and suddenly, it felt A LOT less coincidental. The premise of the song felt completely hi jacked, and once this producer found out that we were exploring legal options, he called to give the cliche “you’ll never work in this town again if you move forward…but drop it and we’ll make your dreams come true” speech. Long story short, we were the little guys, and “Fire Burning on the Dance Floor” went on to be the number 2 song in the world. I’m bias, but I like this version better. Maybe you will too?

Single "Ghost" by Stereo Citizen is about how the presence of someone you once loved can linger long after they're long gone, and at times, you can become an entity that haunts the person that you left behind.

“Hands Off” was chosen as the title of this release because the we appreciated the irony of it; considering the song is about two lovers who can’t quite make it on time anywhere because they are constantly having to relieve the intense sexual tension every time they’re in the same room together. It highlights our funk influences and tells a seductive narrative. It’s for fans of Maroon 5 (from their Songs About Jane album), Bruno Mars, Walk The Moon, and Portugal. The Man.

From the beginning, Stereo Citizen has always strived to bring something different to the table with their music. This five piece pop/funk/rock band based out of Bakersfield and Los Angeles, CA has already shared the stage with heavy hitters like Atreyu, Meg Meyers, Saint Motel, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Highly Suspect, RX Bandits, The Word Alive, Hawthorne Heights, Mondo Cozmo,  Shwayze, Trapt, Powerman 5000, The Devil Wears Prada and more. They quickly gained momentum after they released their debut EP, which was produced by Matt Squire (Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, Panic at the Disco). The single from that self-titled EP “Til’ The Wheels Came Off,” got the attention of the Kern County rock station KRAB 106.1, and ended up in full rotation. That momentum Led to the song receiving air play at a number of otherWest Coast rock radio stations. The video they filmed for the song was directed by Danny Drysdale, who is well known for directing the music video for The Killer’s smash hit “Human.” In addition to getting airplay from several West Coast rock radio stations, and song licensing opportunities in the U.S. and the U.K, Stereo Citizen was able to get multiple songs in full rotation at nearly 50 college radio stations across the country. Recently, out of thousands of submissions, Stereo Citizen was one of the winners in the synch licensing category of the extremely popular Unsigned Only Music Competition. This year, their songwriting has made them semi-finalists in the International Songwriting Competition with their newest song “Can’t Help Myself.” They are happy to have had a smalltaste of success, but there are still many milestones they’d like to reach. Their ultimate goal is to share their music with the entire world, and have people of all different races, religions, cultures, ethnicities, and genders connecting to their music in some way, shape or form, and hopefully make even the most uptight person start to tap their feet to a groove. They intend to keep writing songs with infectious lyrical hooks, funky grooves that trigger involuntary dancing, and stories that most anyone can relate to.
