We are absolutely obsessed with Sia. We've had her latest album, 1000 Forms of Fear on repeat for months now! This song really spoke to us, and the challenges we've faced as individuals and as a musical group these last few months. Resilience is essential. "You won't see me fall apart." Last year, a lot of things changed for us. In what seemed like an avalanche of misfortune, important friendships ended, promises were broken, and we suddenly felt like we were farther from our dreams than when we started. This was a crushing blow as both Marcus and I had invested so much of ourselves and money (we hoped would someday exist) into pursuing our intense passion for music.  Our future was very uncertain and we were left to look at what we had become and try to figure out where we went wrong.

This song was born one night in our bedroom/studio. Marc was playing with some new sounds on ProTools and he came across the violins you’ll hear at the start of the track. I was scared to say the words that immediately came to me. I didn’t want him to know just how dark things had gotten in my head. I said them anyway, and was relieved (and saddened) to find that he was there too. All this to say, we recorded this work tape one year ago, today. We never touched it again. I recently found it and asked Marcus if he was okay with sharing it, he said yes. 

We are sharing this with you tonight in pure gratitude. Things were not okay and they got even worse after we wrote this. But the point is, we are alright. We worked through it. We let the darkness take its course, and discovered new things about ourselves along the way. I’m grateful that we don’t feel like we could ever finish this track. It shows we’ve moved forward. We want anyone who has felt or is feeling defeated to know that we’ve been there too. It’s a constant battle. You are not alone, and neither are we. 

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Many have asked what brought us home, and I think that this song offers a little insight to that story.
