Why do we tell stories?

We breathe, we eat, we sleep. We seek connection. These are our basic human needs.

But there is one more need we all share, and it centres on stories. All across the world, stories are being recounted everywhere, in every imaginable way, at any given time. For telling stories is at the very essence of what it is to be human.

The universe of stories can be broken down into seven basic plots which underlie all stories ever told. Recognising these patterns is the gateway to unravelling the universal symbolic language from which all storytelling is spun.

With Voyage & Return, Chapter 24 returns with seven tracks collected from artists across the world to bring these themes to life. 

This broad-ranging edition of the series spans storytelling electronica from Peruvian Luis Leon, while NO GRAVITY and Olivier Weiter offer two variations on the broken beat theme. Meanwhile, label newcomers Yacine Dessouki & Alani make their own contribution with the organic house of the powerful opening track.

Elsewhere big dancefloor cuts are offered by QUARTZ and Several Definitions, before deft emotional composition from Christopher Ivor brings the compilation to a clean and satisfying close.

They say that there are only seven basic plots but a thousand different stories. 

And so, as the storyteller utters that age-old, magical phrase 'Once upon a time...', let yourself be carried away.

Release Info: 
Brian Cid's Endangered Records returns with a strong melodic house release from ascending Croatian producers Andrea Ljekaj and Marc Grabber, and features a remix from Just Her, one of the most promising UK-based artists around.

Known for his quality productions on labels like Get Physical and Save Us, Andrea Ljekaj provides two originals for the 4th release from the Brooklyn-based Endangered label. The first track is a collaboration with fellow countryman Marc Grabber, who has signed releases to labels like 3000Grad & Get Physical, and has a long history in the Croatian house music scene. 

'Candid' starts things off with tension building vocal stabs, and sets the tone nicely for the release when combined with the track's driving drums. With the bass melody and haunting vocal parts, a deep, spatial vibe is created making this track one that can impact many different situations. Andrea goes solo on the second track 'Flock Of Doves', and takes the listener on a cinematic journey with its eerie sounding piano & pads. A rolling bassline mixed with the aforementioned textures allow this track to add a sense of suspense into any DJ set.

Known for her releases all over the deep house & techno scene on labels from Suara & Sincopat, to Get Physical, Just Her makes her Endangered debut with a remix of 'Candid'. Building on the original, her remix takes the energy up a notch with hypnotizing drum sounds and layered arpeggiated synths throughout, resulting in a powerful atmosphere that finishes the EP off in style with a true dancefloor banger.

Stereo.type is the brainchild of George and Bry, originating from the UK and Ireland respectively, they now call Berlin home. The boys honed their trademark quirky groovy sound at their And.You party series in London whilst releasing their debut track Momento on Get Physical Music in 2013. As time passed and feelings changed, the duo decided to focus on their productions in the home of electronic music, Berlin. 
 
Since the move Stereo.type have found their home on Berlin's Get Physical Music with their debut EP Wasting Time featuring singer Felix Raphael dropping in winter 2018. Their work can also be found on other cutting-edge labels such as Katermukke's MUKKE, Einmusik's EIN2, LouLou Records and Just Her’s Constant Circles imprint. 
 
Their music productions have an indefinable uniqueness with universal appeal that's seen continued support from a wide variety of top international DJs including M.A.N.D.Y, Animal Trainer, Eelke Kleijn, Dirty Doering and Martin Eyerer.  
 
Stereo.type’s DJ sets are full of energy and groove, fueled by their innate ability to guide and make the crowd move. With recent sets at Kater Blau, Watergate, Golden Gate and Bier und Birgit they’ve certainly had the opportunity to demonstrate their skills at some of Berlin’s finest clubs.
