Stergin, the eclectic indie artist known for genre-bending explorations, is set to release Here, the first of a two-part EP series that will culminate in the full-length album Here And Now. Written over a reflective and wildly creative 10-day residency on the Atlantic island of Gomera, Here embodies the joy and curiosity of its surroundings—surf pop vibes, playful synths, and dreamy vocal choirs.

With only a laptop, microphone, a mini keyboard, and a beat-up guitar, Stergin crafted songs that are fun, whimsical, and textured with sounds both intimate and psychedelic. Expect indie rock and twee pop riffs mingling with surf and chamber psychedelic twists—a mix that one friend has aptly called “Napoleon Dynamite in band form.”

The EP’s track, “Roly Poly,” captures a memorable moment from Stergin’s island life. Each night, he encountered a troop of tiny centipedes (affectionately nicknamed Roly Polies), which he carefully escorted outside before bed. “At first, I was a bit horrified,” Stergin laughs, “but eventually, we made peace. Now they have a song!”

Will You Dance With Me?

Human Being is a deeply personal, calm alternative acoustic track written 10 years ago, finally finding its way into the world. It has long resonated with audiences during my live shows, often drawing the most heartfelt reactions. The song was born in a magical moment — on a quiet mountain meadow in Austria at 2:30 AM, beneath the Perseid meteor shower. I recorded the ambient sounds of that night — crickets and the stillness of nature — and they now gently open the song, grounding it in that exact time and place. The track captures the quiet intensity of simply existing, feeling, and being human. Honest, intimate, and reflective, Human Being is a sonic meditation wrapped in warm guitar tones and environmental textures.

"Dream Drops” is a solo guitar piece I wrote 20 years ago. It’s been a constant in my live shows ever since, but until now it was never properly recorded or released. A reflective, intimate track that has grown with me over the years, finally finding its way into the world.

Written during my artist residency on the remote island of La Gomera, this track came from two weeks of total creative freedom—just a laptop, a few instruments, and curiosity. It’s a playful, body-driven song that invites movement and presence. 

Also for the first time, I collaborated with a choreographer to explore how sound and motion connect. I had a couple of dance lessons....felt very akward at the beginning but got more in touch with my body and mind throughout the process. We turned it into a short video. It’s all about curiosity, letting go, and feeling alive.

I recorded the bells you hear throughout this track on my phone one late night in the summer of 2016 in Camden. There was a guy with bells on his feet dancing in the middle of the street at 1am in the morning. He was very very happy.
