"ARCHIVES" isn’t just a playlist; it’s a whole era of my life wrapped up in one album. Every track takes me back to the madness, the grind, and all the wild nights of chasing music with Brave the Spirit.

It all started with "Hey Kid"—a song we barely managed to record in Springfield, MO after nearly breaking down on the way there. That was just the start. We’d go from long drives to middle-of-nowhere studios to renting a car to drive from LA to Atlanta to work with some producer we’d never even met. It was either the biggest risk or pure adrenaline—maybe both.

We played those songs everywhere we could: on stages in Atlanta, LA, Kansas City—just about anywhere that would have us. One day, we decorated an old cigar box, stuffed our single “Hey Kid” inside, and mailed it to 96.5 The Buzz. When Lazlo and Slim Fast played our track—not once but twice in a row on air—we about lost it. It felt like we’d finally done something.

And then there was Jason’s Deli. My day job manager there kept us grounded, reminding us every chance he got that radio play doesn’t pay the rent. Every night, I’d be there slinging sandwiches and hearing, “You’re still here because fame doesn’t pay the bills.” We knew he was right, but that didn’t stop us.

Our Atlanta music manager, though, was on a whole different level. She was supportive and a little…eccentric, to say the least. One night, she had us reading contracts out in the dark while she held a headlamp over the pages like we were on some top-secret mission. Every encounter with her was a mix of business and borderline chaos, but it kept us pushing forward, chasing every lead and every late-night idea.

Eventually, we ended up living and recording in a tiny town outside Atlanta for six months—just us, the music, and this relentless feeling that we had to make something real.

"ARCHIVES" is all of it: the grit, the thrill, the ridiculous ups and downs, and the echoes of every show we ever played. If you want to hear what it’s like to go all in—this is it.
