Ariel Zetina is as charming as she is talented—one of the many reasons she was named "Chicagoan of the Year for Pop Music" by the Chicago Tribune last month. A straight shooter with strong principles, her witty personality shines through on social media and in person. She radiates both best friend and boss energy.

Musically, she wears her heart on her sleeve, infusing her personality into her DJing and production. Her sets and mixes are adventurous, moving from hard to soft to playful with precision. From producing theatre shows and opening for Beyoncé to releasing her RA-recommended debut album on Local Action in 2022, the smartbar resident approaches each venture with meaning and depth. That LP explored the complex experience of being a Belizean-American trans woman, using fiery house and techno to express vulnerability and triumph. 

Ariel Zetina's multifaceted personality is on full display in her RA podcast. There's baile funk-infused techno, crisp drum & bass and plenty of tracks from queer producers from all sorts of scenes, including Michael Cignarale, StrikeStone! and Perfect Lovers. It's a grand statement of power, flow and seriously good taste.

back in september i had the chance to play the @sustain-release-nyc year ten pool party—probably my favorite part of the festival after years i been attending. i was lucky to share the decks with fam and favs rose kourts and colored craig, which made it even more special <3 

as some know, this set was originally meant to be a b2b with sekucci and i , but due to some last-minute changes, we had to pivot and i ended up playing solo. this one’s dedicated to u—sending much love ur way always 💞

was lucky to get the recording of the set, though i had no idea it was being captured. it came out super blown out, but huge thanks to love letters for working their mixing and mastering magic to bring some life back into it. the result is crunchy, textured, and a bit raw, but it feels right.

the energy that day was unmatched, and this set holds a special place in my lil heart. if you were there, thank you for dancing and being part of that moment. if not, tap in and let me know what you think—so glad this lil time capsule made it 😁

JASSS (Silvia Jiménez Alvarez) is a Berlin-based DJ, producer, and sound artist from Asturias, Spain. A former resident at OHM and Berghain's Säule, her 2017 debut Weightless on iDEAL propelled her onto the global stage, with performances at Sónar, MUTEK, and beyond. She has held residencies at EMS Stockholm, Galeria Zé dos Bois, and Villa Massimo. In 2020, she released Turbo Olé / We Solve This Talking on Whities, further cementing her avant-garde approach.
