Laboriously defacing forests of score paper in the pursuit of whatever modest reward might accrue to a modern jazz composer (a cup of coffee? tuberculosis?) can get tiring. And don't get me started on the common fiasco that is scheduling rehearsals. The Stern Birds project (excuse the "P" word) is a small respite from all that -- one musician, simple tunes, all recorded quickly using whatever instruments &amp; implements are currently littering my apartment.
