First VOPM mix I did in a while. Used a blend of Sega Genesis, Sega Master System, and some Sega arcade samples. Bass and lead came from Enduro Racer.



Choshinsei Flashman (FM Cover)

Naofumi Hataya makes really kickass music on the Genesis. The Hybrid Front and Virtua Racing Deluxe are 2 games that fit this rule, and 3 of the songs in these games are pretty similar, so I layered and cut the OP and ED of The Hybrid Front to the Replay music from Virtua Racing DX.

Burning Depths [We Are Burning Rangers - Burning Rangers] [Extended Vocal Mix]

A mix I did back in 2013 that I found thanks to a friend. I was a dumb kid and just went nuts with a bunch of samples, soundfonts and VOPM. I didn't adhere to any chip's limits of course, though the bulk of this is VOPM with Capcom CPS2/CPS3 samples, and I want to say some OPL2 or YM-FM soundfont for the drums. I know I ended up using the Ultimate Genesis Soundfont for some of the hats and the brass, which is why it's so quiet.

I'd do this over but 2013 was when I was a massive Evangelion fan, and I kinda fell out of it.

A Cruel Angel's Thesis (Semi-FM Cover)

Done in a SegaPCM/YM2151 style. Used some samples from Galaxy Force, Thunder Blade, and Power Drift, on top of using VOPM for the FM sounds.

Cover that I made recently, has a bit of an easter egg in the second half of the song. Made with VOPM for the instruments, and ProtoPSG for the square waves, though they aren't accurate.

Rise of the Triad - Run Like Smeg (VOPM)

This was an experiment with a new VST, GENNY (though 1 or 2 channels do still use VOPM due to rendering issues). Not within the limits of the Genesis, but sounds alright. Done in the style of OutRun on the Genesis, and uses instruments and samples from it.

This is the first time I'm trying anything with MID2SMPS (that sounds good at least). Fairly standard instruments, the guitar is from Time Trax though. Sonic 3 Drumkit used.

A SMPS cover I actually forgot I made. The whole SMPS thing likely isn't for me so there are likely some things off about it but coming back to it? It's not as bad as I thought it'd be.

First time I used DefleMask for something, proud of how it came out. Major props to SpeedySPCFan for helping with this (including instrument choices, samples, generally showing how certain stuff worked).

Quite the thing to follow up from my last cover, but a song that needed to be covered regardless. Experimented a bit more with effects and stuff in DefleMask, and I'm proud of how it came out.

B.E.R. - The Night Begins to Shine (YM2612/DAC)

Always liked this game's music, but the other Sunsoft Batman games always seemed to overshadow it. I did a cover in Deflemask (with MAJOR help from SpeedySPCFan) using some After Burner 2 percussion, and some of the instruments were based on the ones from Sunsoft's Batman on the Genesis.

Bassline was hard to nail but thankfully I got help on that part. Hopefully I can extend it at a later time.

Batman - Stage 1/Gotham City [Demo] (YM2151/SegaPCM)

I accidentally found myself obsessed with Sailor Moon at the moment. So, trying to warm myself back up with Deflemask, I tried to cover one of the jingles that plays at the beginning of the show using some instruments from the SM Genesis game.

Turned out alright to me.

Consider this a demo until I post the full version, this is basically the instrumental version that's on the soundtrack.

Trying to do short pieces until I'm able to make full songs again.

I'm gonna start this track over thanks to some notation help from SpeedySPCFan, but I still like how this one sounds and I didn't want to let it go to waste.

I might be crazy enough to try to finish this and the other version, who knows?

First collab I did with SpeedySPCFan! It's mainly made for my RetroArch setup since it has a feature to play music in the background now.

He did most of the melody but I added some extra parts and some of the PSG parts. It came out pretty nicely!
