It is a record of what might be heard as a needle traces across the island’s varied surfaces, cuts through its snow banks and jumps its highway barriers. It is a document of a landscape transduced into sound.

We Have All Heard Things That Were Not There is a work for online streaming and low-power radio transmission. This new piece is part of an ongoing body of work (Black Seas) which began in 2015 and is influenced by historical and contemporary experiences of pathological and non-pathological auditory hallucination. We Have All Heard Things That Were Not There is a sound work that incorporates noise, music and voices; the three types of sound hallucinated, in the form of an audio essay, similar to the film essay genre but told through sound alone.
