I write about many things, including things people don't like to talk about, like coming to the end of one's life with regrets.  But since that happens a lot, I thought it could use some attention.  Here it is:

It's All Been Arranged

I've worn this suit of armor all my life, 
always thought it could stand up to the toughest fight
But something's gotten through and it's eating from the inside out

I wonder how I ever wound up here - tubes stuck in my veins

My little girl called me to say that she's all right

It's hard to know what to say after all that time,
And so I just listened
As every word of regret and sorrow poured right out
I wished that I could tell her what this life was all about

But girl it'll all be arranged

I was dreaming, before the sun came up, of our place down by the lake
Not a worry, as our children run and our laughter breaks
Mmmmm...

There's no use in wallowing in regrets
I've got too many - there's no time left for that
But if there was just one thing I could take back,

Sad old clock just mocking me now, losing track of time
But I still remember you, and how my love was way too blind
