Lee Rosevere - There's A Lifetime [Naviarhaiku040/disquiet0145 - Theresalifetimein]

This project kinda mutated from my original intention. I recorded the sound of me unlocking various doors at home and then loaded these into a ESX-1 sampler. I originally intended to produce something sparse and minimal but the urge to tweak got the better of me me and I ended up with something busier and more rhythmic. It's pretty much a one take jam with a little bit of post editing.

**Production Notes**

I used the same sample L-A-J did (sagetyrtle - door.wav, www.freesound.org/people/sagetyrtle/sounds/32938) and treated it with Ambience V0.3. These resulting granular sounds were routed in Abletons Resonators so I finally had some pads from a door. 

Next were some melodic bits and pieces. I heavily used the Rhythmic Robot Sample  Library for these. Added some long and overboardings delays and EQs. That‘s all, folks!

**Disquiet Junto Project 0145: Locked Haiku**
 
The Assignment: Make a short piece of music inspired by a provided verse.

This week’s project means participating in another music community’s project. There’s a wonderful group called Naviar Haiku, at naviarlab.tumblr.com, that does weekly projects of music inspired by haiku poems. For the group’s current project, its 40th, I wrote the haiku. It reads:

There’s a lifetime in
 between the first and second 
clicks of the door’s lock

The instructions are simple:
Step 1: Please produce a short piece of music “inpsired by” the above poem.

Step 2: Post the track to the Disquiet Junto group on SoundCloud and to the Naviar Haiku group, which is at:
https://soundcloud.com/groups/naviar-laboratory
Include the first line of the haiku as the title of the track.

Step 3: Listen to and comment on tracks uploaded by your fellow participants.

Bonus Step: Include the sound of a door lock in your piece.

Length: Your finished work should be between one and four minutes long.

The fortieth assignment of Naviar Haiku is a poem by writer/editor Marc Weidenbaum. Marc is also the creator of Disquiet Junto, a music project which I guess most of you already know.

Steve Moshier is a composer and performer whose work encompasses theatre, dance, the concert stage, and the internet. From its inception in 1979 until its demise in 1991 he was co-founder, performer, and composer of over 30 compositions for the chamber music ensemble Cartesian Reunion Memorial Orchestra. In 1989 he was named honorary “Artistic Associate – Composer” at the Los Angeles Theater Center under the direction of producers Bill Bushnell and Diane White. Awards for music composition include the L.A. Weekly Theater Critics’ Award, the late Drama-Logue Awards and, having been nominated six times, the Lester Horton Dance Award in 1996. Besides composing award-winning music for productions at the Los Angeles Theater Center, Berkeley Repertory Theater, and the Laguna Playhouse, he has collaborated with performance artists John Fleck, Anna Homler, Keith Antar Mason and the Hittite Empire, as well as, choreographers Karen Goodman, Rudy Perez, Hae Kyung Lee, Winifred R. Harris and, most recently, Heidi Duckler . His work has been performed in international festivals that included the Soho Arts Festival in New York, the Belluard Bollwerk International (BBI) Festival in Fribourg, Switzerland, University of Mainz, Germany, Festspielhaus Hellerau, the Tanzwoche Festival in Dresden, Germany, and the ChangMu International Dance Festival.
