This track is a deeply personal expression, blending two of my greatest passions: Final Fantasy and R&B.

"Oyasumi, Tifa" is built around a sample from composer Nobuo Uematsu’s beautiful rendition of "Tifa's Theme," titled Star of Seventh Heaven (from the Final Fantasy VII Remake soundtrack). Tifa is my all-time favorite character—a shy, protective fighter and martial artist—and I’ve played her theme on the piano to the heart. I wanted to express the deep, intimate feel of R&B within her world.

To capture that emotion, I layered the sample with low, smooth R&B and Hip-Hop instrumentation. The core is the voice of Cloud, her childhood friend, reunited after seven years. His soft, intimate line, “Oyasumi, Tifa” (Goodnight, Tifa), is sampled directly from the game, embodying the hidden feelings and quiet devotion between them.

R&B is the perfect sonic vessel for this soft expression—calming yet impactful in its instrumentation.

Produced in 2021 and premiered at a MoodyBeats.Sea R&B focused event, this is one of my first original releases under the collective. The positive feedback affirmed the mood I was going for. I hope it resonates with your heart as much as it does with mine.
