Dusty Springfield might have been one  of the biggest stars of her day.  Spooky might not have been one of her biggest hits. But when you hear Daisy Kate perform it so convincingly, you wonder why not.  Or is Daisy K going to make it an even bigger success this time round?

Sway is normally one of those up tempo songs that everybody loves to dance to. Daisy Kate's slowed down arrangement transforms the song to a sultry love song in which the dancing is more intimate and the words attract a different poignant significance.  Give it another listen.
And the realism of the Korg Pa5X's alto sax in the solo makes it difficult to imagine it was recorded in Steve's front room.  If you listen closely, you can pick out the missed beat when we both waved to Francesca as she passed by outside.

Norah Jones song goes back surprisingly to 2002 when she was "nobuta girl".  In 2023 Daisy Kate slots into that same category and sings that same song effortlessly with feeling.  Steve Ramsbottom's accompaniment on the Korg Pa5X perhaps a bit intrusive.  But 5 songs in a 90 minute session, no retakes, is quite an achievement.  As live as you can get without an audience.

Georgia Holland revives the romantic charm of one of Ella's specials  and with Steve Ramsbottom's modern relaxed sympathetic accompaniment the whole thing is up there with the best.  And all in one take. And only the ambiguous words. Keyboard and vocals.

Bewitched Bothered and Bewildered

A standard love song from the olden days but this version has that special "je ne sais pas" factor which puts it up there with the best for heartfelt sincerity.

My Dear wife Judith sadly passed away earlier this year with MND and this song was one that we both liked right from the beginning of our relationship 55 years ago till the very end. A romantic thoughtful ballad sung with great appropriate sentimental appeal by Andy Powell, who was a big fan of Judith's, as she was of him. Knowing who it was for gave his performance that heartfelt appeal which has made it a bit special.     RIP dear.
