This World Is Not My Home

James Bell (a musician I met on mp3u.com a dozen years ago) approached me recently with an idea for a song. He described the style and wondered what I might be able to do. Well, I know my limitations, so I turned to Ray Brookes, who in no time created a marvelous arrangement to support James' smooth vocals (when is the last time you heard a sousaphone used for a bass line?) Old-school sound? Ray and James captured it so well (yeah, that's me in the backing vocals...minimalist that I am ;)

Kind of musical irony in a way with a horror theme immersed in a jaunty beat: an unintentional result where so often a song writes itself and you decide not to change it.
