My arrangement of Icelandic folksong sofðu unga ástin mín. The first time I worked at the opera house in Reykjavik, the chorus sang this to me as a farewell the night before I travelled home - a capella, from memory and with passion. A gift I have never forgotten.

Despite never being particular good, I was an avid trampolinist as a kid.
One new year's day, I made for an over-enthusiastic launch into a front- somersault, landed on my head on the floor. Cue concussion, and another lesson learned.

(Amusingly, the guy who tried, but didn't catch me was my violin teacher's son. Small world.)
