iO (Mulen) is ready with another album. This one is not a surprise one, like his previous one was, that popped up after our huge article about his labels. This one has its own release date, proper landing on Mulen Records and, actually, proper promo period – I heard about its coming here and there for quite a long period of time before its official announcement. Sometimes I couldn’t believe that the track I was hearing was from iO – they were too banging even for his new post-minimal standards. Turned out – I didn’t even hear the ACTUAL bangers on the LP then.

Like his previous LP on Mulen Records, this one will also be divided into 3 parts, each of them will be sold separately. This was probably done with the customer in mind – if you don’t like parts 1 and 2, you can just buy part 3. But, after listening to this one in full I can easily say – it’s hard to believe, that somebody won’t like some of it. It was quite a challenge to pick a track for the premiere – too many great ones. But we still did – and did even more than usual. We’ll have the main track here and two more on our youtube-channel – every record from this trilogy will be represented. So, let’s go. Our pick of the bunch is Destino Tikal, a percussive roller for the late hours. Pairing a rolling bass, 4/4 strut with a slew of percussion and no shortage of groove, Destino Tikal starts off with tribal energy. Bongos, triangles, maracas & shakers, you name it, Destino Tikal’s got it. As things get going, groovy stabs shimmer and stutter, distant vocals fade in and out & keys bounce all over in an irresistible groove. Just when you though it couldn’t get any better, the bass fades out one last time. From the abyss come delicate strings, and those once distant vocals emerge from the shadows. MATTHIEU FAUBOURG - PARALLEL LINES

Matthieu Faubourg, the upcoming French producer most known for his tune Please Stay makes his Neovinyl debut with arguably his strongest material to date. Widely considered a newcomer to follow, his name has circulated through deep house circles where he is praised for his unique approach to the sub-genre. In his signature style, Matthieu churns out three weighty cuts heavily influenced by classic deep house, jazz, and garage.

Bethnal Green kicks things off in club mode with thick sub bass chugging beneath expansive pads and jacking percussion. Both Parallel Lines and Less are also aimed at the club, but have a more relaxed feel, perfect as kindling for a dance floor fire, or for reducing one to embers. Closing things out is label co-founder Baldo, who takes an airy, almost Balearic approach to Parallel Lines with his outstanding remix.

In it’s entirety, Matthieu’s EP is a highly functional package of deep club weapons that are sure to make an impact on global dance floors.
