A rambling trumpet improvisation using a looper and other pedals plus one overdub.

Beginning

Written to sit behind a spoken text on a short video.

Background

This track was created using sounds recorded from a quarry in Slite, Gotland: the machines, the trucks, the sound of gravel and stones and an explosion, you can also hear bees and flies as they zip past the microphone and birdsong. Sitting on top of this is the voice of the opera singer, Tilde Rodland. The piece was created for the Birthe Jorgensens's exhibition Besvärliga Mammor. We bathed her sculpture in this odd mix of industry, nature and opera.

Quarry Mix

The title isn't poetic, it's accurate. This is a waltz written for an all trumpet big band all played by me on this recording. It has sat on my hard disc for months and is not being finished anytime soon so I thought I'd put this bit out as I may never actually finish it.

Unfinished Waltz

An all trumpet big band created using my trumpet, one mic, a few mutes and an octave pedal. This is a section from one of the tracks, I'll (fingers crossed) be releasing the whole thing and a few more soon.

Cheesecake

This is an improvised performance recorded on a zoom H2. All pieces are improvised, nothing is written down or planned beforehand. I write this so that you will be kind when you listen!! Especially when you hear the final track, I was a bit tired by then. Tools: trumpet, mic, 2 track looper, delay, octave, harmoniser, reverb, unintended phone interference.

Mint Tea

So far it's been a great winter, great as in snowy and cold instead of mildly cold and wet and muddy. As I'm sat in my studio I often sit and watch the weather for a while and this piece comes from watching the snow fall, large flakes small flakes, wind blowing and also feeling the weather inside as my room is poorly insulated, something I need to get around to fixing.
