Label inductee &RUE and newcomer kole have joined forces for what will certainly be one of the most noteworthy ambient offerings of the year: the “Buried Harmony” EP.

Deeply unnerving and beautiful in equal measure, the two ambient maestros have brought about a vast project with layered atmospheres that will sit with the listener long after the songs have played. Joining forces on the suffocating opening title track, and true to its name closer “Unhinged”, &RUE and kole prove their incredible synergy with the most haunting songs on the project.

On the solo song front, &RUE delivers a truly mind-bending soundscape of clatters and distant, groaning sounds on “Tachysensia”, while kole contributes “Whispering Windows”, which serenades the listener with gentle, melodic drones.

“I’ve been inspired by and fascinated with kole’s music for around three years now. From ambient, to drone, to electroacoustic, I’ve always felt they really had something special with their specific craft, which is creating these incredible soundscapes of experimental electronic music in a bass-heavy-dominated digital scene.” said &RUE.

“When I was able to get in contact with them, we quickly exchanged some ideas and demos back and forth that would eventually turn into a collaboration. As time went on, one song turned into two, and two songs turned into an EP featuring comprehensive out-there sounds from both of us. What’s uniquely important about the ‘Buried Harmony’ EP are the two solo songs of ours between our collabs, and how we take a break to paint our own canvases separately, followed by coming back together to conclude the project in a satisfying manner.”

A journey through frigid temperatures: "Ice Level"

This song was my effort to combine a throwback brostep vibe with techy sound design and a a modern sheen. The result is a song that wouldn't be out of place in an actual ice level in a video game, with driving energy carrying the song forward into uncertain, sub-zero territories.

Much love to @wearesafeinsound for taking the chance on this song and putting so much effort and care into the rollout for the compilation it's on. It's been a blessed experience being on the label and I can't wait to see what everyone thinks.
