Steve’s most critically acclaimed album to date “Boy On A Beach” was launched in September 2007 with Proper Music acting as exclusive UK distributors.  

"Boy On A Beach" was launched at The Stables where Steve had previewed a number of the songs as Shawn Colvin’s special guest a few months earlier. The album has received airplay and positive feedback both in the UK and in continental Europe appealing to a growing acoustic audience who enjoy self-styled individual songwriters.

Since its release, Steve has seen a meteoric rise in his popularity and wider public recognition not just in this country but also abroad.

Ungodly Hour is a benchmark album for all recording artists.

Steve's fourth album stands head and shoulders above many contemporary albums simply because his songs capture influences spanning the decades. Filtering through with overtones of The Beatles, James Taylor, Tom Petty and The Eagles, his album has a fresh and original sound.

Adventurous tracks like "Seven Seas" are driven by Trombone, French Horn and Trumpet from Sebastian Skelly, a London-based emerging talent.

The distinctly mesmerizing acoustic reggae track "Call Of Duty" reaches new heights in its closing stages, with the powerhouse vocals of the "Nexus Gospel Choir", formed specifically for this song!

The title of singer songwriter Steve Gifford’s new album Beaudesert means ‘The beautiful wilderness’. However, it was in the modern day wilderness of social media that Steve found long-lost relative and cellist Hilary Fielding. Without knowing of the existence of his talented third cousin Hilary, Steve made a chance encounter on a social networking site. A friend knew of his fathers' cousin Joyce Fielding, Hilary’s mother. Steve tracked down Hilary in Madrid and they immediately discovered a shared passion for music and performing, although their musical backgrounds could not be more diverse, Hilary being classically trained and Steve self taught. In 2012 Steve went to Madrid where they played two gigs in Escorial. Two years later and Steve’s new album, Beaudesert, features the haunting and beautiful sounds of Hilary plays cello on seven of the fourteen tracks. The album cover features another lost treasure from the wild open country of Utah State, the petroglyphs of "News Paper Rock", depictions of the lives of ancient native American Indians carved into rock. Primitive carvings may be a long way from social networks today, but then it’s no wonder that Steve has been described as ‘ever evolving’ by music journalists. The forth coming album centers around themes of sparseness and simplicity, with insight and compassion. The album is produced by Ben Walker 2014 BBC Folk Award nominee in two categories.

This is a song about my car journey south from Edinburgh.
The rain was heavy and the motorway travelling conditions were hazardous.
At a location called The Angel of the North
a car braked up ahead, we were all travelling at about 70mph.
Then, the cars in front of me braked heavily and five cars collided, including mine.
The song tells the story of this journey and how I was feeling grateful to be alive.

This song is about two lovers, terrorized,wrapped in each others arms, facing their last moments of life amidst a nuclear war.
With flashbacks to happier times.
Lyrically it takes you to that place for those few minutes.
A nice cheerful title track.

Steve has seen a meteoric rise in his popularity and wider public recognition, including airplay and positive feedback, with his music appealing to a growing acoustic audience who enjoy self-styled individual songwriters. These days Steve mainly tours and gigs with bass guitarist Ian Catchpole and Simon Ambrose on drums.The band formed shortly after the album launch of the 3rd album "Boy On A Beach" at the Stables.This album was tremendously received and it allowed the band to tour the UK between March and September 2008.

During this time they worked on Steves’ 4th studio album “Ungodly Hour” with most of the song arrangements by Ian Catchpole and this was recorded between January 2009 and October 2009 in North London.A strong track named "Knolls Wood" went off to be mastered at the Abbey Road Studios in St Johns wood.

Some tracks draw on Steve’s many influences from several contemporary song writers such as Ray Lamontagne,Damien Rice, Josh Ritter,Tom Petty and Crowded House,earlier years of listening, included Neil Young, James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Carole King, Jonie Mitchell, Donovan, Jonathan Kelly, Don McLean, The Beatles, The Kinks, The Eagles.
