VIBES✨ PACHENA BAY 2025

This set was the biggest surprise of my summer. 10 days before Shambhala, I was offered a slot at the new Riverside Stage. I wasn't even planning on attending this year. I've been waiting for an offer like this a reeeal looong time. I've only played Shamb once before in 2018 at the Village for the Ragga Jungle Rinseout with my homie Orilla (RIP). It is a cherished memory. So finally getting a full set was a dream come true and I am overjoyed to share with you one of the bucketlist sets of my career! I played at 5pm on Thursday so I didn't wanna bang it out or go too heavy, just happy and energetic. Felt like i was starting the party. I was working on a housey summer mix at the time which i kinda scrapped and turned into this set, so it starts off very summertime pool party vibes but then goes into all my favorite tunes I've been rinsing this summer. And now it's here for your listening pleasure, I hope you dig it... and let's hope it won't be the last!

But after chatting with my manager (Meech), we figured… who friggin cares? This set has a totally different vibe and ended up being my favorite show of the whole summer!

DJ Primitive- Junglist Tribute

I didn’t know when I’d put this out, as its a pretty serious deviation from my normal sound system sets which, for the last 10 years or so, lean towards techno and house.  My efforts will always focus on these styles, however, my love of reggae has kept me looking for its more futuristic, large sound system leaning offshoots.  Despite being from the coast, I first heard Jungle in St. Catharines Ont. in 1997 or 98- and quickly heard a lot more of it as I started to frequent Toronto’s peaking rave scene of the day.  Marcus Visionary, Freaky Flow, Capital J, Mystical Influence, Jungle Souldier- where some of my biggest influences from that time.  Internationally it was Kenny Ken, Ronny Size and his Represent crew, Marky, AK1200…

Flash forward a couple years and I was back out west- looking to live the dream up in Whistler.  One of the first people I met was DJ Phroh- who has been a Junglist ever since.  We travelled to Hollywood to have his first Dubplates pressed and rocked countless house, forest and club parties- one winter we both djed the ski and snowboard park for free passes- all jungle and breaks- all vinyl- for a season and at the end of the season we got to rock the finals of the ski and snowboard slopestyle- on course, directly under the judges.  good times.  

So when Phroh invited me up to Pemberton for his wedding and Drum and Bass Bar b q I was there.  It was a gorgeous ceremony by a river followed by amazing live music from local reggae legend Kostaman and then we went in.  Sets from Q Project- originators from the uk, Bullet Bill from Vancouver, Homeboy Morgan Tedder, MC Lozen and Deadly Cam plus I got to play the first Jungle set I had played in 12 years.  

So I finally got the chance (newborn daughter keeping me busy) to record the set.  I knew I had to come correct on this or risk it quickly becoming a forgotten novelty.  I think it deserves to stick around.  I hope you like it.  Much love.
