It has been four years since I last did a mix for Sunset Grooves and it was high time I did a mix returning to my funk roots. Not the easiest of genres to mix but definitely one of the most fun you can have :) This is a mix full of some of my favorite funk tracks at the moment  and one or two classics I needed to include.. all mixed with a modern touch to give that extra kick/punch that I dig so much. 

Hoping to seduce some music fans who haven't explored much this genre and those who know it to hopefully discover a few tracks you have not come across :)

Our 'Good Morning from ...' Guest Mix series will explore different artists from all around the world as they take us on a journey with their distinct and unique sounds that they'll showcase to represent their taste, surroundings and upbringing.

After 4 years of sharing stories from all over the world, one artist has continued to be requested by our loving community, and we’re ecstatic to be able to welcome him to our Guest Mix Series.

@pablo-bolivar is one of the most well-respected artists around the world, and his label imprint @seven-villas-records has amassed a loyal following from all corners, consistently releasing thought-provoking music that speaks to the soul.

Today he’s taking us through his hometown, Cantabria, which boasts a unique combination of breathtaking coast, deep valleys, majestic mountains, fused with characterful seaside towns and tremendous historical riches, the perfect setting for an early morning story.

Fader Lustig is a DJ & producer based in Mannheim, Germany. In his DJ sets and productions he combines jazzy hip hop and lo-fi house beats, adding live trumpet and turntablism techniques. He has openend concerts for the likes of Oddisee, Freddie Gibbs, Asher Roth, Apollo Brown and Flo Filz, played club gigs with DJs like Teresa, Josi Miller and Mark Hype. His debut EP ‘Window Seat‘ released 2021, followed by single features with international beat producers.

Mannheim has been my home town for almost 10 years, and while it's not always the most beautiful of places I like its vibe and people a lot. For the mix I compiled a selection of jazzy instrumental tracks, with some classics that have been in my playlists for a long time, and also newer tracks with fellow producers I had the chance to work with while living here.

every once in a while i have the pleasure to play at the beautiful Kater Schmaus Restaurant.
this is always something really special, because it's about great food, delicious wine and great music i never play in a club.
this selection is 90% vinyl....some rare stuff from the 50s, 60s,70s...lot of 7"s, lot of stuff i found in small record shops in south africa, egypt or somewhere else in the world.
i really love to play stuff like this from time to time and i hope you enjoy it as much as i do.
this is not a mix!
and this is only 4 from 5 or 6 hours, then the battery of my recorder died ;)

it took me a while to upload this set because that day was the last time i saw our friend bas. he and the shoeless family were the first ones who booked me in holland , and over the years and many parties + festivals we all became close friends. dutch parties wouldn't be the same without him and this beautiful crew.
i still can't really imagine amsterdam and the world without him but i feel like i owe him this recording.
