This is an actual recording of an Uber rider who hassled me.  It was 4am on a Saturday night. I get to the pick up point and a call comes in, which is always a bad sign. This jerk started harassing me, saying things like: "You KNOW how to drive into a parking lot?" I tried to accommodate him with a few "Yes sir!", but he continued to be a jerk so I told him to have a nice night and cancelled the ride. He calls back and claims to be from Fox News and was recording me.  I told him to take a hike; he calls back a third time.  This time I had my podcast recorder in hand.  I had 2 new passengers in the car.  Indians.  Dots not feathers.  I sent this recording into Uber as to flag this bad passenger; they fired me, or at least put me on suspension and for a week I had no idea if I'd ever drive for a living again with them.  Uber claimed the reason they suspended me was that I was "talking with a previous passenger while I had new passengers in the car."  No consideration that I felt like I was literally representing Uber to an international news media.  No "thanks" or "sorry" from Uber.  No consideration that the jerk called me THREE FUCKING TIMES! In light of what's happened recently with Uber rides - and it's not necessarily Uber's fault (people are jerks sometimes), I thought I'd post this.

This is my mother, Gloria Green, singing the 1953 song, "I Believe".   I think this was recorded around 1966, in Los Angeles.   My mother would've been in her late 30's.   She was a single-mom, juggling a day job and singing in nightclubs, such as The Luau, which was at 435 North La Cienega.   When she was 18, a talent scout from Warner Brothers heard her sing, thus offering her mother, my Grandma Anna, a movie contract.   Well, Anna turned down the man and thus became the beginnings of the greatest stage mom of all time.   Enjoy her sweet and incredibly beautiful voice.
