DPO arrived in the rack yesterday and it's simply too good. From gurgling sounds to saw tooth basses etc .. So Sunday afternoon produced this as I slowly entered each note with the single rotary encoder on the SEQ 03

Ableton Push and Makenoise DPO

Rene in 4 line mode with a few clocks, into Elements in the fantastic easter egg mode Ominous. On top of all this .. Braids gives a kick and Tides running Sheep firmware is doing the ticky high hat as it's scanned through pitches and wave tables.

All sequenced with the beatstep, the inital bass punches are the DPO, the lead line a Werkstatt, with a couple of mods for better CV control and the drones in the background are a quick Sub 37 patch.

Playing about with the turing machine and elements, trying to recreate more plucked and acoustic sounds.

There's a bunch of stuff in here, but it's all done on the rack to a tascam dictaphone, with fades and a final EQ in adobe audition.

Got a Rytm, took a day of playing about but whoah! It's a beast. Who thought a drum machine could do this.

All in the box, recorded straight to a tascam recorder and nothing other than a direct upload. Spent about an hour playing about making the kit up.

Rytm - Acid

Playing with fairlight samples in the CMI after a day listening to some of the 80's at work.

All it needs is a fresh faced young teen and some overly curly haired girl and we have the incidental music to a film of my childhood.

A little play with the OP1 tape decks. Overloading the inputs through a delay and a bit of reverse recording to create something a little more abstract than the usual computer robotic rhythms of late.

The Space

quick patch of 2 ring modded doepfer oscillators through a frames in quadrature lfo. The quad outs pings rene to advance the sequence, does the vca and modulates the clouds in oliverb mode.

I got a system 1m. Better than ever expected. This is it with a rene, straight out over USB nothing more than a fade in and out and normalised. The perfect travel companion in the suitcase I had left over.

Well done roland, under the green nasty lights are actually a cracking wee synth.

Roland System - 1m

Dpo Fm'd into the STO Fm-ing Warps so I suppose 4 operator in Yamaha's terms. The distortion sound is the STO being swept from Fm'd sine to triangle. Then a bit of EQ with shades giving the mutron feel.
The bass hit is pretty much a Tides with heavy modulation.



Warps - Broken Sine Groove

Mutable Instruments peaks running Dead Mans Catch Turing Machine Quantised. 

2 Doepfer A110's Synced And Cross Linear FM'd with one ring modding the System 1M OSC 2. All through a TipTop Prophet Filter with random glides handled by a complex enveloped synced to the looping Trapezoid generator, which also handles filter modulation. All in all needlessly complex by when you bathe it in reverb and delay on the system 1M very nice to get lost in as it winds and evolves over time.

Turing Machine - Roland System 1m

A wee drum track using the samsonite modular with a beatstep pro. All one take.

The open hat is an oscillating erbe verb with the size being audio modulated from the wogglebug combined out, then the right channel is sent to the echophon for a karplus esq sound. Kick is the DPO final channel being stuck and a small amount of linear FM. The primary channel of the dpo saw is ring modded and has an expo envelope on the pitch from the sum of both maths envoles to make is wander a bit. The STO is the secondary tom which is up to the full on the triangle folder, with a bit of modulation. Finally the noise out of a disting goes into the Intellijel uVCF ( makenoise ... we need a 4u Noise module! or half noise + an extra lowpass gate..) 

Envelopes are controlled via the filter on the uVCF, mod demix with the maths plus optomix / stikes for others. Then all into a rosie for final controls.

The Echophon and uVCF also have smoothed and stepped voltages from the wogglebug to modulate the sounds and pitches too.

Manual variations were from the tilt on the erbe verb, which influences the echophon and loops back via the clock to the tilt. plus filter sweeps and envelope changes.

Final recording was to adobe audition with a crappy sound card and the top and tail chopped with a little reverb added.

All done in 1 take sequenced by a beatstep pro at 140bpm
