ABSYNTHE MINDED is considered one of the most interesting Belgian rock bands. But describing them as such does not fully convey the artists' versatility and ambitions. Absynthe Minded started as a one-man band formed by Bert Ostyn, the vocalist and guitarist who was successively joined by other musicians. The line-up now includes a drummer, keyboard player and bassist. The band members experiment with various instruments, sounds and genres combining rock with elements of jazz and pop to achieve an offbeat and very melodic sound. They say that they are trying to find their own pathway as a band and to make their playing authentic. The group is very popular in their native Belgium, in the Netherlands and in France. For their latest album they collaborated with the producer Jean Lamoot (Noir Désir).
