It would be a pretty safe bet to back Bristol based duo, GotSome right about now. After dropping their latest joint, ‘Vibe Out’ on MTA Records at the start of the year, the pair look poised on the cusp of something great. It might have been just over a year since their heavyweight debut 'Bassline' took the scene by storm, but the lads have kept the home fire burning with remixes for people like Moko and Surething reminding people that they’ve got the goods.

We actually already saluted their success back in October - when they recommended their ultimate spots to grab a bite in Bristol – giving a nod to the fact that their past sonic endeavours and musical heritage connected to form a new combined outlet. But now they’re firmly part of the MTA clan. They’ve had the godfather of grime, Wiley, lace one of their tracks and the expectation for their next move is rising all the time. That’s exactly why we’ve invited them back to our Farringdon hub this Friday night.

Joining forces with the likes of Foreign Beggars, Newham Generals and My Nu Leng in Room One, the duo have kindly delivered a new mix to help us prepare properly.

A respected member of the global techno elite, the FORMAT boss is kicking off 2015 in style, with the release of his 'Buffer' 12" via Drumcode on March 9th. Following that, Juan will be returning to FORMAT under his JSSL moniker, for the Constant Target EP, which includes a remix from Madrid's Kwartz.

Juan's mix takes us on a trip through the dark tunnels of the techno underground, building through peak time destroyers and returning us safely to minimal depths.

They are Aston Harvey and Matt Cantor. Together they form the Freestylers, and they’re this week’s special guests on The Armory Podcast. Press play. Get down. 

After a 15-year career the Freestylers have covered a full 360 degrees in the Bass music genre, having played all the biggest festivals and most talked about nightclubs around the world, even the quintessentially British music show, Top of The Pops. Having achieved the kind of success most artists can only dream of, they’ve not rest on their laurels and constantly working on new releases all the time. 

Aston and Matt started making tracks together in the mid ‘90’s after discovering a mutual love of hip-hop, electro and beats. They released their first two album ‘We Rock Hard’ and ‘Pressure Point’ on the legendary Breakbeat label Freskanova. ‘Raw as F**k’ and ‘Adventures in Freestyle’ were released on ‘Against The Grain’ and another Breaks power house based out of Brighton, UK. From being voted ‘Best Band’ by Musik Magazine to touring with Lenny Kravitz on his American Woman tour (he asked them himself as he was so impressed with their act), rocking a crowd of 30,000 at Glastonbury Festival 1999 and performing at MTV’s Times Square Millenium Party, playing Big Day Out ‘05– it’s fair to say these guys have had one big adventure so far.

The Freestylers began their career as an Urban Electronic Music Act, and their early tunes ‘B-Boy Stance,’’ ‘Ruffneck’ and ‘Warning’ set the marker. As their music progressed so did their anthems with the seminal tunes ‘Punks’, ‘Boom Blast’, ‘Fasten Your Seat-Belts,’ ‘Painkiller’ and more recently ‘Cracks.’ In addition to their status as underground heroes, they have gained commercial success with their huge global hit ‘Push Up’ and have had their music featured in TV and film, including the hugely successful comedy films Zoolander and Hey Dude Where's My Car. 

They've released 5 Albums-We Rock Hard, Pressure Point,R aw As F**K, Adventures In Freestyle and The Coming Storm and are currently working on a 6th. Gheir ever-eclectic style and renegade approach to production focusing on everything in the bass music spectrum knows no bounds . Whether they’re performing as a live band, sound system or DJ set, you know they're gonna rock hard.
