Gradient Forest

The first single taken from the forthcoming 33 track album "Wavepool 3" from Plastician.

The third installment of Plastician's Wavepool series sees 33 tracks land on Terrorhythm, five years on from the initial mix that sparked conversation about the genre's potential.

Fast forward to 2020 and the sound and community surrounding "Wave" has grown and splintered into offshoots such as "Hardwave" which has seen the sound adopted by DJ's more likely to be found in huge concert stages than small dark basement venues. With community still at the heart of the sound, this compilation rings truer to the origins of the genre, with nods to the future, brighter end of the Wave scape throughout the compilation. Producers from 3 continents are represented - documenting the scene's growth way beyond the circles it one operated within. As the sound metamorphosises from URL to IRL, it's clear to hear how varied the style has become since the previous Wavepool outing in 2017, with Eastern Europe's flashes of Trance influence dancing in tandem with the UK's Grime and Garage influence, as well of course as the tried and tested foundations built on the USA's Trap rhythms and drum samples.

With the genre moving at a rapid pace, Plastician's ear for the smoother end of the sound keeps a tight grip on the majority of the selections in hand, but we are reminded of just how bright and colourful this genre can be with flashes of energy throughout the compilation - bringing a well rounded taster for any curious ears out there.

The Wave is certainly not just a classroom exercise....

Hailing from the coastal city of Vlissingen in The Netherlands, Ivoryghost Shadows Are Forever is no stranger to the elements, with his debut label release, 'I.D.F.K' being nothing short of stirring a storm. Releasing on Liquid Ritual on August 19, 'I.D.F.K' taps into the experimental and dynamic nature of Wave, morphing boisterous bass with an ethereal undertone. Acting as a self imposed challenge, the single is an enhancement to Ivoryghost Shadows Are Forever's arsenal, furthering his production prowess to new bounds.

Mungk has quickly become a legend in the scene for his colourful and dynamic productions which never fail to impress, this palette of productions has seen him release Vinyl and Digital music on very respectable labels: Duploc, Frozen Plates, Soil and Sound & Encrypted Audio to name a few.

Mungk is no stranger to Simply Deep either, ‘Totem’ saw Imanzi and Mungk team up for the track ‘Kapa Haka’ whilst January saw the drop of his track ‘Masquerade’. We are glad to have him back on the roster for his debut EP ‘Tarot’, if that wasn’t exciting enough, we have three talented artists on remix duties: Hypho, Hunter Reed & Khromi.

The entire release oozes with class alongside disciplined production techniques, the melodies in all three original productions are captivating and yet still top contenders for Sound System Music with the rumbling low-end basslines – a perfect spectrum of sound.

"At Simply Deep we rarely find the intro compositions as much of a joy as the ‘drop’ itself, this EP is truly a mark of craftsmanship from Mungk."

The icing on this delicious cake is the remix work from Hypho, Hunter Reed and Khromi, all respectably adding their own touch to the productions whilst keeping true to the original vision from Mungk. This is without a doubt one of our proudest releases to date, we hope everyone enjoys it as much as we do.
