Giacinto Scelsi (1905-1988): Anahit (1965) for violin and ensemble.
(Poème Lyrique Dédié À Venus)

Anahit was the goddess of fertility and healing, wisdom and water in Armenian mythology, more or less equivalent to Venus in Roman mythology. This piece by Scelsi is probably the most profoundly beautiful piece of music I know.
